Default Latest Firmware for JB4 for B48 - 11-26-2017, 07:18 AM

Hello All, I am a newbie here and I just install JB4 on my 430i Gran Coupe. How do I know I have the latest firmware and if not how do I update it. I am not seeing a post that works with my car.
Thanks

That is a link for for N54 back end flash maps and has absolutely nothing to do with your tuning system.

Hello a Terry, I am satisfied with the JB4 but I can’t say the same about the aftersales service. I ask a simple question about how do I know if I have the latest firmware. I expected an answer telling me what is the latest firmware for my unit and where to go in the JB4 settings to find it. If I don’t have the latest then BMS must have a link to update my unit. You cannot be sending me to a link the forum that I cannot get into. It would be much simpler for me and others if you have a dedicated link for each engine type where we go to update our system. I am new here and I am not impressed with your support it’s not customer friendly.

The file you are looking for is a hex file and it's located under the picture of the engine bay in the link that Terry posted...And I agree with you that they need a simple hex file firmware link...It took me days of reading threads to find it...I'm new to this stuff too. They have been doing this stuff so long that they must think everyone knows what they are talking about...

Did you completely miss the B48/B58 engine specific JB4 thread I posted above and that is prominently featured within this forum at the very top? The one that contains the firmware you're looking for as well as the map guide, and further directions/settings for the engine?

http://www.n54tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31429

As stated units ship with the latest production firmware. You can check your firmware within the app under the read only/firmware area and if you want to update it the firmware is posted in the "JB4 B48/B58 Firmware" thread I linked you to above.

I really don't know what else we can do but make a sticky thread for each engine application, and include the firmware, settings, notes, and map guide in the first post of that thread. It should take literally 15 seconds to find it. Click on the B48/B58 forum. First thread, labeled JB4 B48/B58, has the info.

Ralo, I think you are being a little unreasonable in your feedback.

It was only yesterday you posted asking a question, and within a matter of hours later terry did reply. He gave you the answer but appreciate the firmware can be hard to find the first time looking.

I’m sure if you would have said you still can’t find it, terry or someone else would have answered had you give it time. Having said that, you could have looked a little harder?

I copied a pasted this to show you what I thought would be the firmware update from Terry's thread, but it does not work for me. Maybe because I'm using a Macbook?

Firmware:

BMW_B48_B58_OBDII_8:

This does nothing when I click on it. You have to scroll down to the hex file which is just below the picture of the B58 motor....Therein lies the confusion for me...Why wouldn't the hex file be under a heading...latest B48 B58 firmware update?

Thanks very very much Vinman, I don’t think Terry and Mrpink understand my concern. Not all of us have time to go search and figure out what should be done.

Default Now that I know what to look for...It's easy! - 11-27-2017, 12:03 PM

I never even heard of a hex file...LOL...But now that I've been reading through the threads I'm starting to understand a few things. Basically I just want the car to have a little more power, less turbo lag and be reliable...I have the BMS intake and JB4 running 93 octane fuel from Costco on Map 3 and the car feels great. I tried Maps 1 and 2 also...Map 1 is very good, Map 2 seems to hit a wall and just feels slower than Map 1 but Map 3 feels the best to me and the car just pulls and pulls and feels faster than the other maps with no lag or down side. I wish I knew why but I'm not a rocket scientist LOL...

I definatly do understand what you are saying.

Just because it wasnít spoon fed to you, you decided to leave unfair and unjust feedback.

Basically you just couldnít be bothered looking, but had plenty of time to leave feedback.

I see you still don’t get it, I got the answer from Vinman. I have no more time to waste on this. I am done.
