Default B58 Water/Meth Kit & VBOX Testing - 02-16-2016, 04:24 PM

Hey guys,

Hard at work on B58 water/meth development. Due to the unique nature of how the DME is setup there is a hard cap on fueling around 380-400whp. And the only way to get more fuel in (currently) is by adding it externally. The perfect candidate for a water/meth kit.

One unique challenge with implementing water/meth on the B58 is how to locate the nozzles given the the intercooler is integrated in to the intake manifold. Normally, we'd make a stronger aftermarket chargepipe with bungs but in this case the factory piece is solid and difficult to remove. So we've designed a custom sandwich adapter that fits between the intake manifold and the factory chargepipe. It allows us to run dual nozzles 180 degrees apart to give the required atomization and is also super easy to install/remove. Developing the adapter required some fancy machine work to allow the nozzle to produce a full spray pattern and here is a short video of the result.

The B58 water/meth kit will also include an extra connector for the JB4 system to allow direct control of the wastegate. Without the water/meth kit the fuel cap is such that there is no reason to push boost higher than ~17psi but once that cap is removed then the EWG control benefit kits in. With the EWG connector in place we can push boost as high as the tuning conditions and hardware will allow. I've run up to 23psi sustained so far on the OEM turbo.

Anyway I did a couple quick VBOX runs last night on a private track. This is on pump gas, dual CM5 nozzles, boost juice, launching softly in 2nd gear. Will work on pushing boost higher in the coming weeks. I suspect breaking 120mph with JB4, intake, and water/meth will become common place for the B58 before long.

Around 420whp. When I wrap up the tuning I'll get it back on the dyno at various boost levels to confirm.

Yes the injection ring goes in super easy. Literally under a minute. It took around 20 min total to install the meth kit.

The short answer is maybe. I've done some TBI testing with it (note fuel solenoid in photo, which is currently not connected), but TBI for the B58 needs some further analysis.
