New N55 world record -
01-06-2015, 02:35 PM
Hey guys,
Strapped down our 2011 135i DCT for a little dyno testing today and was able to set a new N55 world record of 487whp. I think there is another 15-20whp left on the table but for this car we're happy with where it's at.
Mods:
JB4 w/ back end flash map
Vargas Stage2 turbo w/ forge diverter valve
Vargas pressure based wastegate retrofit kit (a soon to be released product)
2.2g meth kit w/ CM14 nozzle
Catted DP w/ OEM exhaust
BMS intake, OCC, etc
E30 fuel
The new WG kit allows the VT2 turbo to hold up to 30psi. But we found the best performance, at least on our fuel mix and car, at around 25-26psi. More than that would result in bucking and missing. Which I think may be the result of excessive back pressure. But at 25psi the car really moves and feels much better than the previous OEM wastegate setup which was making around 450whp @ 21psi.
There is new JB4 firmware to go with this new WG and the lowest boost you are able to run is 15psi. So I did a run at that new "lowest" setting for kicks. Wasn't half bad and makes for a nice conservative pump gas only map.
With higher octane more timing could be added but based on previous testing I would not expect much power there. Maybe another 10whp tops. And going to a full race exhaust would also probably open up another 10-15whp as well.
Jason or Ando will be racing this car at the 1/24 shift sector. We'll see how it does against N54s.

Bad Ass! Solids results as we expected from a BMS tuned car. The new WG set up really opens up what you can run boost wise. Looking forward to track videos with the car!

Awesome update and finding more power!
Curious to see how the DCT acts at SS. Does the car have any intentions of going with an SSP or Dodson clutch packs upgrade?
As always, you guys are on the ball and helping us get more N55 POWA!

Wow, very impressive! Def some more power on the table considering you were running a catted down pipe. Wonder what gains would be with a free flowing uncatted down pipe? that plus some more timing on a race fuel mix surely would bump things over 500whp.
500whp + 7 speed dct = winning!
btw hows the dct performing at this level? lol

I think 500whp is possible if someone wants it. This power seems a walk in the park for the DCT with the high load back end flash we've developed. No signs of slippage so far.

Not this car. If the trans acts up we'll just reduce the torque. But we will with the M3 DCT if required.

It's been changed around a bit for more holding power but it's similar. There are still a few tuning issues to work though on fuel management during shifts but once that is sorted I'll post the new stuff for those who are running this new WG kit.

Amen on that. This car is limited to 132mph. Cobb can't remove it in the flash software so we're basically stuck. Last time I checked I couldn't find a VSS in on the DME like the N54s to allow a piggyback method.
