Default G20 330i B46 EWG connector - 10-18-2020, 01:41 PM

I have ordered an EWG connector for my North American G20 330i (B46). I was wondering where exactly the EWG connector plugs in in the engine bay. I've seen pics of it in a B58 which was under the heat shield near the turbo. I looked at mine and it looks tightly wrapped in there. I saw a connector outside the heat shield, near the turbo. Not sure what connector that is. I'm hoping to God that that is the EWG connector.

In the pic below, the connector is towards the passenger side of the car, on the side of the engine. Near the turbo.

Edit - Realoem says it's a set wastegate valve actuator. I believe part number 13 in the link below.

Anyone?

Also, is the firmware different when running an EWG? I read an old N55 thread where Terry said he'll send a special firmware for cars with the EWG installed. Wondering if it was the same for the B46/48/58 as well.

Yes that's the spot! You should be fine with current v17+ firmware.

I installed the cable. I have an issue though. I simply cannot get the plastic cover to close! I spent one hour trying to get it to close but it simply would not. Not sure why. Without the chip and wires inside, the box closes fine. With it, it doesn't. I aligned the slots, wires, seals etc but no use. Tried different methods. Again nope. When I snap one end on, the other end pops out. After more than an hour, I gave up trying and taped the entire box with electrical tape, covering all the openings multiple times. Hopefully that should help :D
