Heres a GOOD one. 2FCA, 2FDA, 2FDB -
11-11-2019, 01:47 AM
So searching 2FCA, 2FDA, 2FDB fault codes brings up.....nobody knows 🤣
Was found to be no description years ago.
Was found to be crank ventilation related Years ago.
Was found (VIA MHD) to COMMONLY be HPFP related. Yet people swapped hpfp and still had codes.
Commonly codes popped up after BMW updated software, tuned or stock, same codes. This was extremely common.
Now MHD comes up with crank sensor.
So which is it ???
Does anybody know ?

And here we have the same code (top and bottom), with a different description. Anyone know how that can be ? Root cause ?

I believe it is strictly the CODE that is pulled by the JB4 or MHD apps.
Then the apps have an associated description, which could account for the discrepancy.
Dave, based on the fact that the JB4 App has all the correlated descriptions, do you have access to the CODES and descriptions so these discrepancies can be overcome with confidence?

I only have access to what JB4 pulls.
Not sure why theirs a difference as to what mhd pulls, especially seeing it’s the same code.
I emailed mhd - have not heard back yet tho : /
Positive- is it’s an inactive code

I emailed them as well. Best they could come up with was tune related. Makes no sence though. A code, is a code, regardless of tune or flash. IMO.

I prefer "Davey" with a "y".
Oh, not Trebila Dave, not me Davey... the BMS Dave!
I'm on it.
Wait... I'm not him.
He'll be right back.

Never heard back from MHD
But based on what I could dig up- I don’t think the issue / error is “present” making it more of a shadow code.
Any performance issues?

Only issue is recently i have been getting crappy timing drops, then the next day its fine. Different cylinders, just strange. Wondering if its related. Its not fuel, plugs or coils, injectors etc. Im swapping it out tomorrow n see what happens (crank sensor)

same here just recently noticed on MHD when I scan for errors It shows
- DME shadow (inactive) codes - 2FDB - Crankshaft sensor, signal, Not plausible
any one figured it if replacing the crankshaft sensor solve it or its not related?

Same issue for me.....
In the past, I would always get 2FCA and 2FDA shadow codes and MHD always indicated it was HPFP related and benign.
Never affected performace.
Now, more recently MHD is now showing 2FDA as Crankshaft sensor signal-missing.
To add to the confusion, I now have a brand new third shadow code 2FDB - Crankshaft sensor signal - not plausible.
No effect on performance.
Common advice in the past was that these were harmless codes you got when the HPFP was replaced under recall.
All of a sudden the same shadow codes are indicating a crankshaft sensor issue

I had an issue where my car died in traffic twice. First time I changed lpfp sensor and it was fine for 2 weeks. Car died again and then I replaced HPFP. After replacing HPFP I had a 2FCA and 2FDA code. I cleared and it never came back. Tonight my car died again after idling in my driveway with a fuel pump warning on the iDrive screen. Not sure where to go from here and what to replace. Need to go scan it when my tablet charges.

Been wrestling with this for a long time -
02-26-2020, 07:32 AM
I've had random codes pop up. earlier this year was 2A7A Camshaft position controller, exhaust, cold.
I replaced vans solenoids, filters, cam gears (ledges are fine)
it seemed to go away but came back randomly once.
Since then I've been getting 2FDA Crankshaft sensor, signal missing.
I replaced HPFP and sensor but still no luck. I do noticed it pops up with a hesitant start, and I've noticed idle is a 500-600 rpm. Is that too low? Could it be battery related? I had low battery warning pop up recently as well.
Any info would be much appreciated.
