Default xHP TCU Flashtool, 6speed - JB4 must be removed? - 02-03-2019, 05:22 PM

Is this true?

I see in the xHP user manual it states that the JB4 should be removed prior to reflashing the TCU. In some cases it has worked with JB4 installed but... on their “test cars” it wouldn’t work with JB4 set to zero. Once flashed you can reinstall the JB4.

However on forums I see that the “newest software” for the JB4 allowed it to flash fine with JB4 set to 0.

I've flashed it plenty of times on map0, but if you run in to issues just putting the gray subconnector to stock would bypass all the CANbus functions physically if needed.

Should be fine on “0”

Just flashed a friends JB4 car last week- no issues.

Word of advice if you are debating which stage to run- imo stage 3 or nothing

Thanks Terry and Dave! I will give it a shot tonight!

Digging my hole deeper: After re-reading my question I think I should be more specific... can the JB4 remain installed while performing the initial xHP software installation?
Connect -> Backup -> Install -> Flash.
User manual says 15 - 20 of this long flash installation prior to writing the Stage 3 flash settings (after the xHP app has completed its stock TCU backup).

(I understand that the quick-flash can be done with JB4 Map0)
