Ethanol Blend on Stock Fuel with Stage 2 Turbo -
04-10-2018, 02:42 PM
Is anyone on here running a small ethanol blend with 93 on their PWG Pure Stage 2 setup? I'm talking guys/gals that aren't running PI or meth and if any, advantages this would provide. I used to add it in on stock turbo and of course the difference was very high but on the upgraded turbo I'm not sure it will do much unless taking the plunge into PI.

I used to run 19psi on e30-e40 before I had meth, but I did have the fuel-it stg 2 pump. So not completely stock fuel.

I ran E20-30 for a while with PS2 before meth.
After I added meth (2 CM7 nozzles, 100% meth), I experimented with mixes up to E50. My car consistently runs better and stronger on straight 93 (E10) and meth than any higher ethanol mixes. I'm not sure why, trims were still good. But it does, so that's what I run now. 23lbs, 93 and meth.

With stock exhaust, stage 2 lpfp, e30, anything above 18.5 psi and my rail pressure would tank. With 3.5" ypipe back, anything above 17 psi and my rail pressure started to tank. So I added a DO7 nozzle, 100%meth, and my rail pressure is good up to at least 21 psi. I just can't run a tune with that much boost right now because of the stock DCT flywheel.
But anything above e30, even with meth, my rail pressure starts to tank at 18psi. So I run e25ish to be safe, logs are perfect.

It looks like everyone that commented has the older style HPFP which flows more. I am with all of them that 17 psi is the soft limit but I have boosted up to 20 psi on E25-E35. I have heard some people say that the newer style pump you're looking at about 15 psi on E30. I haven't tested this myself yet as the X1 is still stock.
I still have yet to seen any evidence that a LPFP upgrade gives you more room before the HPFP crashes. I have seen a few members buy a stage 2 LPFP since their HPFP was crashing at a certain boost level. They were not able to boost anymore with the stage 2 LPFP. One member then replaced the HPFP and still had no improvement.
