12-22-2016, 02:23 PM
Check out this new option instead of using the diesel coolant tank to do the relocation

Cool idea but seems a bit over designed. I have to admit making an aftermarket tank never occurred to me though. Maybe something in plastic at 1/3 the price?

it completely removes the stock tank, plus with the relocation most charge ***** will not work. this tank you can use almost any charge pipe and not have to worry about fitment issues. Plus the tank is CNC billet aluminum this is why the price is so much

The reason they chose CNC billet aluminum is so you dont have to worry about a plastic tank cracking. Plus it cleans the eng bay up for a nicer look and gets rid of some of the plastic thats in the bay.

That is correct, but the tank doesn't feed directly into the motor, it has to pass through the radiator first.

Yes but it's going into the radiator at a hotter temperature and traveling the same distance and still getting the same amount of air. So, it would come out of the radiator hotter. However, the tank isn't very large so who knows if it would make a big or a small difference.

3D print it in plastic, it will probably resist coolant better anyway and not have to be anodized.
send me the CAD program I'll have my friend make it and sell it at a profit for $250 (in aluminum)

It's a nice looking part, not putting it down. Just saying as a possible product idea this in plastic would make more sense. Could get something that fits more cleanly and at a lower per unit price point. The factory one is plastic and it holds up just fine. If the demand is there I can look in to it. We've gotten a lot of experience in plastic works lately with our custom meth tank.

If you use the drop down menu anodizing is just to give it a cleaner look and the price is lower

500 for a coolant tank is too much. And trust me im not a cheap ass looking for the next cheapest part (search same user name on bimmerboost).
This is a good looking tank but that kind of money you should of made it for a newer vehicle such as the f30's because at this point no one is going to spend that much money on something like that unless it has a significant (and i mean significant) attribute to the performance of the vehicle. The only other reason i could see someone purchasing it would be for a show car.
Now if you CNC a billet valve cover that gets rid of the trash factory PCV system and is threaded on the back for some catch can connections then you would be in business big time.

Good point, due to the way it's built it can be made to go in multiple applications just as of now it's only been test fitted in the 135 and 335.

Would be cool to see something like this in plastic with a nice finish on it. Good for relocs and ST kits.
