Default intercooler & charge pipe - 07-11-2016, 08:06 AM

I didn't get many search results so I will ask here

The eBay intercooler is $140 , I think some of you guys call it the "big Tom". One I noticed was branded "rev9". I think user nightmare on here runs it, & his car rolls out, so I'm curious as to who else uses it with good results.

Also, for a charge pipe, who runs the ECS tuning package on their 535i? It looks good, several good reviews, but I prefer feedback from someone that has used it over a year or so.

If these less expensive items are reliable & outperform stock, I can upgrade now. So, who's got the info? If they work well I'm in, otherwise I'll wait

Thanks

Cxracing fmic performs. Tough install, but if you're up to it its worth it.

Ecs cp has a crap bov.

I didn't get an install diy in my search. Anyone know if one exists?

Anyone here have an e60 with "big tom" intercooler that can show install pics or anything?

I don't know of an E60 install DIY. I have pictures I took during my install on my E82, but I doubt it would really help you.

I went with the Phoenix racing chargepipe and tial bov for my E60. Install coming Monday.

As far as intercooler, I'm going with the boost monkey stepped intercooler and I'll document the install.

Not sure about an E60 install, but the install was really simple on my E90. I've been running it for over a year now, light years better then the stock intercooler (obviously) and it performs well with my single turbo.

Chargepipe fit like a glove. Noticeable improvement over the oem pipe.

Haven't gotten to intercooler yet

What difference can you notice with a new charge pipe ? I am confused. This is not a noticeable mod.

Installing a VRSF intercooler on a e60 is VERY Difficult and took my BMW master mechanic over 8 hours to do. Had to fabricate pieces for mounting, move engine components, and order additional parts..

Is that the one from BMS for 129? I read it didn't fit e60. Care to share the info?

Install went smoothly. Perfect fit. I had more issues getting the tial bov attached to the bov flange on the cp using the v band connection then I did getting the cp installed. The throttle body flange lined up perfectly and the other end mated to the IC piping without issue.

I need to get Terry to fix me up with that set up. The BOV, anything you have to adjust?

No. Full disclosure that is an XS Power tial bov replica off eBay. It's not an actually tial. It comes with a 5/6 psi spring installed but I had to take the top off and install the 11 psi spring. It's actually a really good quality and full metal construction. For $60 it's a no brainer.

For important parts like turbos, injectors etc I would never consider eBay and Chinese parts but something like a bov is worth the gamble. It has a lot of positive reviews and cones well packaged.

BP racing on ebay has a CP/BOV kit for $219. Looks like the bov you have. I think I would rather buy from Terry if the Phoenix racing cp fits & is still 129. (Was 129 shipped? )

It was $129 but I used my ups account to ship it to me. I think it's $145 shipped from them.

It fit my e60 and my brother in law ordered it and it fits is car as well.

I'm at $189 for the Phoenix pipe and eBay tial and it is working flawlessly.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll give this same set up a shot. Waiting to hear back from ando at burger to order the charge pipe. Did you need any extra parts? Or did everything supplied from burger go on the car?
