I must have though its a JB1. On JB4 leave boost safety as is and use maps in post 1.

You can run map 2 or 3. Map 2 high torque and map 3 which is a more linear power delivery map with a higher peak than map 2.

Hey George, quick question map 3 vs map 4 vs map 2.
What are the differences? I’m on the mk7.5 golf r but I can’t feel a difference between map 3 and map4

Tried out map 6 today on 8.8 firmware with default values.
Same mods as the last post. I would like to become more self sufficient at reading these things, I understand what all of it is but I don't know what the warning signs would be that I've pushed too far.
Thanks,
Ian

Hi george
Jb4 is now fully installed. The app shows firmware version 60/87 // 5 is this the alpha version? I still have the following problem. at Gauges it is only shown to me which map I am currently driving and the boost display moves. Nothing moves at Afr / RPM / Temp IAT
If I want to read out error codes, it says so too
https://scontent-muc2-1.xx.fbcdn.net...6b&oe=5FAA5195
Many Thanks

That is the one version before the Alpha.
Your OBD cable is most likely orientated in correctly on the small end. Use this picture as a guide to check it.

Hello George
The problem with the connector was done and now everything works. I went to work this morning with card 1 and it's already feeling really good. After work I tried Map 2 and the car was a little stronger. Unfortunately it rains all of us. But when it's dry I'll take a log at Map 1 and Map 2. I currently have Aral Ultimate 102 Roz in the tank. Did I understand the log to mean that I have to rev up in 3 gear from 2000 rpm to 6000 rpm and then slowly reduce the speed in 4 gear? How long is the adaptation drive until the JB4 has established itself with the ECU.

When map switching there is hardly any adaption. If you in a area that is safe to run 3rd and 4th then it do both gears flat. Otherwise third is fine and you can stop the log after the gearchange.

So here's my first log trip with Map 2. I hope it worked out for the evaluation. Otherwise I have to do another log trip

George, long time no talk to. Got a question for you: My 2015 GTI w/ upgraded JB1 to JB4 has a wastegate issue and my turbo needs to be replaced. If I upgrade to the IS38 will I have to change anything on the JB4 to accommodate the new turbo?

Hi,
You can run up to map 2 with no changes. On IS38 well worth to log it then and send them over and we can create a custom map.
Main thing once its fitted is that the calibration of the wastegate is correct assuming it has been moved from stock position as we sometimes see issues in this regard.

Hi,i am from Germany and new here. I run my JB4 on a 2017 gti performance facelift 245 Hp,non GPF model for 6 month now with a custom map6 without problems.
A few days ago i was stopped by police and they saw that positap thing. I got a Ticket and had to put out the box.
but driving without the JB4 feels boring, so i decided to connect the jb4 without connecting the positap, till i find a more undetectible solution.
So i only can run map1, right? and i have to change fuel bias wich now are all set to 100 to 0, right ? and what was the standard fol for this map 40 or 45, i coud not remember.

FRUSTRATIONS with JB4 app
May this is not the correct forum but the JB4 is becoming more frustrating every time there is an update or at least for the last few versions :
1. Why are there not a button on the right of the screen to go to the home screen?
2. Logs don’t reflect the names of the actual map 6 (name)?
3. Why have we not received descriptions to error codes ?
Maybe if the JB4 app developers can sort this the JB4 app will become more user friendly

Hello, I am from Germany too. I chose the cable for the AFR. My JB4 box is nice and nice behind the battery. There's a hollow there and the JB4 fits in well. So invisible at first glance

Thank you for this link eric81, that plug looks good.
Yeah, JB4 is great, i wont miss this thing. I placed mine also behind the battery, and wraped the cabels with original tape from vw.
The only thing you see is that positap. I think i will give this plug a try.
But at the moment i will drive without afr linked, so i hope someone can answer my question.

Correct without positap you can make the fuel bias values 0 but its not really needed as the AFR is inactive. The only thing it will do though is give you accurate AFR readings as it takes the bias amount into calculation.
Map 1 is good for no connection.

Just posting here who may be on the fence about JB4. Yesterday, just out of curiosity, I had my car dynoed. Why not. TL;DR, my car is basically at stock S4 territory. I gotta say, I'm pretty happy with the JB4 and the mods I have on my car.
EDIT: Car running on Map 6 and E30. Engine mods are Rev9 Intercooler, CTS Turbo Air Intake, and JHM down pipe with Vibrant Ultra Quiet.
