2.0T spark plugs for JB4 - N54Tech.com

Hi everyone. I have a Genesis G70 2.0T and I'm going to be installing a JB4 soon. Have any of you regapped the factory spark plugs for the 2.0T or are you all running the HKS M45XL? If you are using the factory plugs, what gap?

I ran map 2 on stock plugs but changed to hks plugs and map 5 with 30% ethanol currently. Velo N pp 2.0t

Thanks for the info. Were you running the stock gap on your stock plugs or did you close the gap down? Did you send in any logs to BMS to see if everything was running properly with the stock plugs?

I had the stock gaps and no issues but didn't have the logs reviewed for map 2. All was fine on 93 octane here.

If any of the BMS guys read this (Terry?, Payam?, Ando?) can you please weigh in on stock plugs and plug gap for the 2.0T (G70 in my case.) I only have access to 91 octane fuel and was only going to run Map 1 or Map 2.

Question for the BMS guys: If I want to try the stock plugs with the JB4 on my G70 2.0T (on Map 1), would it help at all to close the gap down (easy to do on the four cylinder) or should I just try it as is?

I'd run a log and see how it looks. If it looks like it could benefit from closing the gap down, do it, but if it looks okay, no point.

I tried the. M45xl plugs but found them them to be too cold and they carbon fouled easily and was getting rough starts. Switched to M40xl wich is 1 step colder than stock Gapped at .028 and they seem to be alot better. Manufacturer suggested gap for the 2.0T is .028"-.032"

Good information, thank you. For my Genesis G70 2.0T the factory plugs are listed in the service manual as SILZKR8H9G with a gap of .031-.035 inches.

For the 3.3T with a JB4, BMS says regapping the factory plugs works just fine. But for the 2.0T, that option isn't listed and only the M45XLs are recommended (gapped .022-.026.) Looks like it will cost me about $120 to get four of those.

Since I'm only going to be running the lower maps, I'll try as Dave suggested with the factory plugs as is, send in some logs, and see how it goes.
