I tried to update while connected to the car and while disconnected and get the same result. Not sure what I’m doing wrong? Is there a link available for the file as in previous versions?

The link should be on the first page of this thread.
But.... just connect your phone/app to the JB4/your car, in the App tap Settings, then tap JB4 Tuning/App Configs, then tap Firmware Update, then tap Browse Latest Firmware Files (bottom of the screen). Find the file you want to download (V8 or V9) and it walks you through the rest.

Hope that helps.
Thank you for your assistance. When I tap browse in the app, there are no files to choose from, the screen is blank. When I browse the link on page 1 of this thread, I can see version 8 firmware download link for my car, I press download and nothing happens.
There is a video in the 2nd post of the thread showing how to update firmware. You may need to update your app if it doesn't have the new firmware database on it.

i noticed on my logs my transf values dont change much. i have attached a log right at startup (car parked over 24hrs) that show that my transf values are super high even as oil and water temps are warming up.
is there anyway to verify if the values arent being pulled correctly by the jb4 or if the sensor is actually reading that number?
I heard it is not possible to reset the jb4 back to the default settings. I want to double-check mine to make sure I didn't play with some settings and change options I wasn't suppose to. Where is the guide or sticky on what the default options should be?
Clicking/rattle noise at WOT with JB4 Map1 -
05-17-2020, 07:21 AM
I have an '18 Luxe 3.0T AWD with only the JB4 for a mod. With just map 1 at WOT I hear a rattle/clicking sound around 5000-6000 RPM. I dialed-in a Map 6 and lowered boost (from the +4 that map 1 uses) in the 5000-6000 RPM range and don't hear it anymore. Was this knock (even tho my logs don't show detrimental numbers) or maybe the waste gate activating (not sure what that sounds like)? Any thoughts?

If they never move then something must be going on there.

I went to check my car. Found out my DUTY BIAS were all 0. I set it all to 50 now.
BOOST Safety was 20.0. Left it the same.
PID Gain was 0. Changed it to 20.
Auto Shift Boost Reduction was 0. Changed it to 60.
FF / Wastegate Adaption was 0. Changed it to 60.
I haven't driven my car yet, but correcting those values hopefully makes a good difference!
Most of the settings have no effect unless running optional EWG connections. But never hurts have the defaults loaded.

The best way to rule in or out knock is to keep everything the same but up the octane (via octane booster, E85, unleaded race gas, etc). If the noise continues you know it's not combustion related. If it goes away then it's best to lower boost as you've done via your map6.

I've had this issue with mine which is also a 3.0t non-RS AWD ever since day one. I would get that tick-tick-tick sound at those rpm, and I have now attributed it to the quality of gas that is being used. What exact octane and what gas station's gas are you putting in it? On mine it seems to do it more in 2nd gear then anything, even on map 1. I've gotten it to go away if I add a bottle of Octane booster (like Lucas or Royal Purple). But if I go with any settings that +5.5, +6 or +7 for boost, it comes back. So it must be an octane issue and too high a boost level. I would think this is pinging/detonation/knock for sure. Although I tried to analyze my jb4 logs best I could, it never really showed those events as timing being pulled which was also confusing.

UPDATE: By some miracle, all my problems went away after I put those default settings back into my JB4. I know these settings are meant for those with the EWG, but somehow it helped me out although I don't have it!
QUESTION: I was told and read somewhere that the JB4 won't work if your Coolant Temp is under 168F...is this true, can someone provide some more explanation on that and why? I do see an option to disable warmup safety or something.

You shouldn't be making WOT pulls until the coolant and oil is up to temperature. During warmup is where most of the "wearing" occurs on a motor, especially when trying to put high load on the motor while cold. I don't know the specifics of the JB4 with respect to this, but I do believe Terry said it will lower targets until the car is up to temp.

Thanks! I have been guilty a few times of going WOT when the car wasn't fully warmed up, usually was when a friend came over or family member wanted to check out the car and I drove out from a cold start, and 5mins later floored it. I will make sure not to do this anymore, until its warmed up properly. To get above 168F here in Canada takes about a good 10mins of driving first.
I have noticed reduced boost when the car was cold in the logs, so now that finally makes sense too now! Perhaps Terry can still add anything else we should know.
Should we update to v8 or the beta v9 as it fixes an issue
Also would like to know. I'm actually on the v8 BETA (JB4_VR30_8_T4) ...and wondering if I should flash with the _T8 stable update or go to the beta v9.
If using v3.7 JB4 mobile adapters use v9. Otherwise, doesn't really matter.

I have been following this thread for several weeks, have made it thru 117 pg's so far. I purchased a 2018 Q50 Luxe a couple weeks ago, immediately installed a HE, blow off valves, JB4 w/ fuel wires and AMS intakes. I was hoping one of you experienced owners can evaluate my 93 octane 3rd gear pull and provide some feedback.
Very impressed with the community and all the assistance BMS provides
Additionally,
Is the trans temp still referring to intake charge temp in version 9?
What would be a normal reading in 90 degree temps here in Tampa FL?

Welcome to the forum!
Looks good so far but get a longer run with shifts too. Usually if things are going to fall apart it happens post shift.
It looks like I shoved trans temp under cyl5 timing on a temporary basis but it doesn't seem scaled yet. I'll have to get back to work on that.
TransTemp in log is still "IC water temp" currently.
