I just ordered this from N54tuning. I noticed the kit doesn't include a J-pipe. Do I just use the stock one?

Yes, the silicone couplers included are for stock lower J pipe.

By popular demand added a fin pack photo to the first post. Seems to be a lot of discussion on fin pack going around... Remember it's not just about shoving as many fins as you can in. Because if they don't square off on the plate you won't get good heat transfer and wind up being counter productive.

This thing is awesome. I've been running it for about 6,000 miles now and it's refreshing to see on most logs that my IATs seem to actually go down or stay the same as a pull progresses. This thing + E85, even during the hot summers, should make IATs a non-factor for most setups. Only downside was all the cutting, but that was well known coming into the installation.

Yes, a very light coat of black high temp paint after it arrived. BMS has admitted some have overspray, and mine was one of those, so that made the decision even easier to just make it a uniform black finish. In theory, I probably lost a minuscule amount of efficiency by painting it black, but I like the stealth look and doubt it makes a bit of difference at my power levels.

Agreed. I left my VRSF 7" silver and it was slightly visible through the front mesh, but I like this all-black look better. Plus, you can still see if it you look hard enough

Log from Payam's 800whp 335i racing at Shift Sector running the Phoenix Race IC. 30psi boost and only temps only went up ~25F at 160+mph.

This thing is VERY impressive. I am on stock turbos and i barely see a few degrees IAT rise during a 2-3-some of 4 pull. Also i did not notice any turbo lag with this monster of an intercooler as many of you thought. Coming from the old 7" vrsf.

No. Our race intercooler is $499. Others are priced at $669 or higher. We will be offering both the 2.5" pipe and 3" pipe as inexpensive upgrades, though. And for those with "other" intercoolers it looks like our 3" cold pipe kit will be fully compatible!

Haven't set price yet but in the $59 range for the 3" pipe and required couplers for the intercooler and chargepipe. It's in production now so probably a couple weeks.

Yeah i can't wait to get some funds to buy this. Or a Wagner EVO2, i'm still not sure. The big Phoenix IC will outperform the Wagners right? What about the little Phoenix?

I don't want the crap that VRSF is selling lately, thats for sure.

What are your end goals? I would just go for the bigger Phoenix, it won't hurt and will leave headroom for the future. I don't really see any intercooler competing with it for the quality and price.
