Default Jb4 f80 M3 cp wonít run - 04-21-2018, 12:44 PM

Hope you can help. Bought a jb4 off the forum (m3cutters in uk) and set about installing it on my comp pack f80 M3 today. Took around 2 hours and I installed all sensors (waste gates too)

Went to star the car and it misfired like mad and died.
I removed the obd connector and it re started, it ran for about 10 minutes.
Re connected obd and re started it and it wouldnít run, so disconnected it again and now it wonít even run with that not connected.

Iíve checked the sensors over and over and it wonít run. Put it back to stock and it fired up but now with an engine light?

Any thoughts ?

Car is RHD uk based

Not much to go on there, if you have install photos we can check it. Otherwise would need to see a JB4 log to check firmware, etc. Maybe somehow faulty before you purchased it...

Just tried a few different ways this morning. I removed the waste gate controllers and linked them out and tried it with just maf sensors for stage 1 and got the same splutters and it died shortly after. I returned the car to standard removed all jb4, car runs fine so can’t be a faulty sensor any ideas

Ensure that the molex-type connector is plugged in correctly. The pins should be aligned 1:1.

Looked ok, the clip locates it on pin 1-1
I do notice that one side of the molex has three pins terminated and the other only has one pin terminated

You will need a cable to connect to the JB4.

I don't see any pics in this thread.

Update on this

I’m still having issues and I have no lead to connect the jb4 with (trying to find the one I need)

I’m only installing two sensors for stage 1
The rainbow and the brown wire ones

The car will run fine on the brown wire sensor with the stock rainbow sensor
When I connect the rainbow sensor it runs rough then dies (even when I remove the brown sensor and return to stock)

The molex connection is fine

I’ve got the menu 1 set to 4 via the stalk controls to auto clear codes

Any ideas?

I’ve cleaned the connections on the rainbow sensor and all pins are straight

Photo of board? Maybe someone attached rainbow to the wrong sensor and fried it.

Sometimes people plug it in to the MAF sensor position and fry it as that's a 12v sensor. If you want to send it in we can always check it out here, address is on our website.

I can’t upload pics direct unfortunately

Terry, do you know which chip would fry? There is a pcb repair shop on my industrial estate who could repair it if I knew which part would have fried if plugged into the 12v maf?
