Oil temp range...what is IDEAL? -
09-15-2017, 10:11 AM
So my N54 gets to 160° after about 4 miles or so and gets to about 205(?) at its hottest during my normal commute of 26 miles combination town/highway driving.
Is 205° a good temp for my oil to live at? (I do have the BMS OIL COOLING VALVE installed)
Thank you!

Okay, good deal. Thanks!
I need to check my tranny temp again (I forget) and ask the same. I think it runs at ~170°... does that sound about right?

TCU temp at 170 F is very normal, it can go up to ~205 F if it's hot outside and you do some up hill driving

Ideal is just above 212°F. At that temp the condensation in the oil boils off.
With my huge oil cooler and a 180° thermostat i see temps between 180 during colder months to 220 max in 100° heat driving hard. So all is well. Boost on.
