Weather they are stock turbos, RB or others. How long have you been driving with smokey turbos?

Just curious to see since this is extremely common.

Right. But I don't ever see any of said brands at any events or on any forums really... that's poor marketing and promotion.

Being in the Car Scene for so many years and many different platforms, you learn that companies that have "poor marketing and promotion" produce the best and highest quality parts, workmanship etc... I know a specific companies that would rather spend more money on research and development instead of marketing.

Yes that is usually the case. I do agree. However once research and development has been completed, how are you suppose to sell your products without proper marketing?

If it's a product that sells itself then hey, you've got it made. But turbos do not sell themselves. As there are A LOT of options....

Meanwhile this thread was for "how long have people been on ol smokeys?" lol

Hmmm mine smoke a little bit. Been burning a quart every 800 miles for well before I bought the car. They rattle like crazy, but they still boost just fine. Original turbos with 115k miles been tuned with 18-20lbs for 60k miles I would assume as the previous owner would confirm.

Heck I would say not too bad. But I do plan to have them replaced in a year or whenever cast manifold turbos become a little cheaper

Factory turbos from 2008. Started smoking at ~78k, very bad and embarrassing in traffic. Updated software (DME BEF & JB4) and built a custom exhaust (twin 3" ********* and single 3.5" ***-back, nothing but piping) around ~92k. Havnt had any issues since. Not really sure why but it was very obvious it went from constant smoking to none (or none noticable) the day I did those two things. ~103k now no issues. FBO, Inlets and lots of e85.

That's really odd... do you have any resonators, cats, mufflers on your exhaust setup? One of those could be masking the smoke. If it was me I would still worry on why it WAS smoking lol.

Not bad. Although I usually don't see the stock turbos fail being FBO until 30-40k miles. And by fail I mean oil seals Lol.

Wow not bad. 80k miles on stocks? although... you've put minimal time full FBO on them. That's still pretty impressive.
