First post, excuse the dumb question:
I have a 05/2011 335i, does that mean I already have 7603527 (BMW 2011 Trans Flash)?
My D mode is fantastic, S is harsh and M is soft. I really just want the D1-6 display but I don't want to open a can of worms with paddle shifters and adaptations only to screw up the excellent D mode performance I currently have. Can someone tell me what to expect from something like the Alpina 7603537 coming from a late 2011 model?

Mine seems to do it less often and to a lesser degree now, perhaps it is learning. I still haven't reset the transmission adaptations but I would like to as I have heard that this usually improves the shifting after the relearns.

You should have the 2011 flash already. Mine is 9/2010 and a MT 2011 and I am pretty positive I have it also. I am pretty happy with mine but would also like M mode more aggressive. I am pretty happy with the drive and sport modes.

Verdict: No alternative to the alpina flash unless you want other "glitches/hiccups" during drive mode. OR if you dont mind having a slushy S mode.

I've tried the original and the "new" alpina flash. I can't say that there is much difference between the original and the "new" alpina B3 tcu flash. I also tried the "new" alpina flash with and without Trebila's torque requests. Trebila's torque requests worked well (didn't notice any harsh shifting) and seems to improve the "D" mode responsiveness. It still is not the same as the stock "D" mode but seems to be an improvement over the standard BMS flash torque requests. I have not tried different torque requests as I'm not familiar enough with it. I'm driving a 2008 BMW 335i E90 (I8A0S). Hope this info helps.

There are multiple flashes. The new flash isn't slushy in S mode but if I recall correctly there is one that is. Its better in D mode with no hiccups but worse in S mode. You can never win em all!

I want to second this...the first day or so I experienced the "trying to keep RPM's less than 1500" effect, but now, after several days, it is already shifting at higher RPM's (1800-2200) on a regular basis. I definitely like it better today than last week! And it isn't placebo effect because I read this, and other Alpina B3 threads before I flashed so I expected the D mode to be a little anemic and have the 1500 RPM shifts...and it was and did...but only at first.

Has anyone else tried this flash? And do you agree with Rob's findings? M mode is great but I do miss stock D mode even though the new Alpina flash is smoother it just shifts nonstop and takes away from the fun.

I would like to agree with what others have said, I upgraded to the newer Alpina flash and it is a worthy improvement over the old flash on my 2008, worth doing for sure, D is better, M is a bit better so overall an decent improvement. Might try the US sport flash for fun at some point also.

I'm switching to us sport flash 7601494 from the newly discovered older n54 Alpina b3 flash. Going to reset adaptations and drive around, I'll report initial observations and the observations after 1000 miles.
D mode shifted too much for me, I never got in the decent range of the power band, S mode doesn't replace old d mode, and m mode was a bit rough since that's what I drive in most of the time and I drive it hard, it shifted very quickly tho.

Excellent - report back, going to do it also, just have not had the time. I sounds like D will just say D, but in M or S you should get the indicator of what gear you are in. It sounds perfect also, stock D with as good or better possibly in M or S mode.

Well initial report, none of the modes are as harsh, they're smother than 7603537. I'm not sure if they're quicker, d mode seemed quicker/smoother. I'm not sure yet but M seems slower, I don't feel I should comment on S mode. I don't recall much of 3537's S/DS mode.

You guys have gotta be kidding, but yes it does that. D mode is just D.
I'm pretty sure you can code those features in even on the stock flash.

Ok, finally did the U.S. sport flash 7601494 and D is nice more like stock and usable, new alpina flash was better but still found myself always putting it in s mode. D just says D, no D1, D2 etc.
S is great similar to Alpina and you get the S1, S2 indicators. M is also quite good and shifts nearly as fast or as fast as Alpina and indicates M1, M2 etc. only thing that is missing is the lovely rev match on downshift in M mode which I miss a bit, but right now not enough to give up the better D mode.

I'm running JB4 map 2 on my car and I feel like under heavier throttle M mode doesn't handle the shifts as gracefully. Seems to be a bit slow and clunky at that, almost like it wasn't expecting that much power so it has to take it's time a little bit. But I think it does this on map 0 as well.
But S mode and D mode are so much smoother, the 3-4k upshift in S mode is a much better place for it to shift and it does so quickly without getting all clunky like Alpina or stock 2007 flash. I still find myself driving in M mode often enough, reminiscing of Alpina. Good stuff though, I'm glad the Alpina flash got me into that.

how many flashes are we up to now? i'm still on the original one from the glory days a couple years ago
so there's:
1) old apina
2) sport flash
3) new alpina?
also read on the BB forum that there's now an alpina DSC flash?

I just flashed the old (newly discovered) Alpina flash - 7603537 and came from the one we've all been using - 7615835. Haven't driven much but first impressions are M mode is improved as far as smoothness. On 7615835 the best way to describe it is when shifting in M mode (especially NOT when WOT and NOT at high RPMs) it felt as if I was "released" from the previous gear if that makes sense. Some gears were harsher than others. Now its just as fast shifting but much smoother feeling.
D mode seems about the same (maybe upshifts a few RPMs higher). Need to get PTF to revise my throttle maps with some of the tips in this thread.
Barely tried S mode but seems like that mode maybe picked up the smoothness like M mode did. Up shifts at 2,700 RPMs.
Really wish this car started in 2nd gear in D mode like most cars "normal" cars. I find the momentary 1-2 shift hesitation in daily driving really freakin annoying!
