Default M4 boost leak - 05-12-2015, 03:24 PM
Has anyone ever had a charge pipe or intercooler pipe blow off? I have to bring my M4 in tomorrow morning due to a serious boost leak, it sounds as if one of the ***** coming off of the charge side of the turbo popped off.

I've heard of the turbo->IC inlet hot ***** blowing off. They are secured with simple hose clamps. Not heard of any cold pipe issues though.

I believe that is what happened, I checked under the hood but it's down somewhere off of the Turbo. It popped off when I was under WOT, Map 2 running 4 gallons of E85/93.

This is what probably happen to you...its not breaking at the clamps at the top they are pulling apart at the bottom. See link below.

My dealership called me this afternoon and said that the cylinder 1-3 charge pipe coming right off the turbo sheared right off and cannot be reused. They had order one and apparently there are none in the US and it has to come from Germany, car is going to be stuck at the dealer for at least a week (I'm guessing more). He checked to see if he could order a 4-6 charge pipe and he said there are a bunch available so he's guessing it's an issue.

Are there any aftermarket charge ***** available that would be stronger? my dealer said that they would install them. in fact my service advisor looked quick online to see if he could find anything

As of this time, no aftermarket charge ***** available. I believe MSR is working on a full intake, but at a price.
