Default stage 2 turbo upgrade shopping list? - 03-14-2015, 04:46 AM

Hi guys,

im preparing my car for having a stage 2 turbo installed,
i own a 10\2010 e82 135i DCT
7" fmic, jb4 s2 iso fw 5.5, ***, 3.25 full exhaust and an upgraded charge pipe.

what are the rest of the stuff i need to prepare for a proper stage 2 turbo operation?

flex fuel?
3.5 bar tmap with or without the adapter? [i have the A type harness]
back end flash?

anything i need to worry for about the DCT?

my plan is running on 93 octane daily [map 5?] but running it on roll racing tune on occasions.

it would be great to have this all cleared up for the rest of the guys aswell

Yep, you will want an AP so you can do the BEF too. Need to get the timing down for more boost.

Definetly going to get the stage 2 lpfp from fuel-it
Lsd is not realy a motor upgrade, but after i am done with all the rear control arms/bushings/braces, i tend to purchase a plate-type lsd from mfactory.

So the adisable mods for a stage 2 turbo on said car is

Back end flash/cobb w/ bms flash
Stage 2 lpfp upgrade
Flex fuel wires
3.5 tmap sensor+ adapter (do we need the adapter?)

I am making my own custom intakr

Actually you are better off getting a meth kit to assist fuelling. On your stock hpfp you dont need 3.5 bar tmap as your hpfp wont flow enough fuel for 20 psi. And my stock lpfp outflows my stock hpfp. So unless you are going to add throttle body injection or port injection imo you dont need stage2 lpfp.

hey darkied,
as i said, planning on running 93 octane most of the time,
so maybe i will try a meth kit first because i already have a CP-E charge pipe that has a meth bung inlet.
so E series N55 on 93 octane might handle 16 psi to redline instead of tapering to 12?
if this is the case it can be an awesome upgrade from the stock turbo.

Yup 93 octane and 16 psi work fine for me on stage2 turbo.

16psi to redline is no issue. If it is then you can always do the BEF.

DCT can handle 20psi to redline with the right flash.
Mine is rock solid and I have not been gentle with it.

I second that. Recently did the Cobb BEF to mine and it's been so much better. No more slippy.

Do you have any sound clips of your full 3.25 exhaust? Always been curious about that on an N55..

sounds like a cobb bef is in my cars future aswell
how to i know if my car is flashable?
i may consider meth injection in the future too
my goal for now is to just hit the 16 psi to redline safely without dct slipping on 93 fuel.

i havent realy had a chance to take videos of it,
but i have something a buddy of mine took,
i may record a vid just for that in the next few days.

I own a 10, 2010 dct . I had to get the most recent BMW ECU firmware installed (3 weeks ago ) and the Cobb worked no problem, my car still had the original factory software. Previous to the Firmware the cobb was unable to flash my car.

Might have me confused with someone else, I don't have a 3.25" exhaust.

i run 225\40\18 front and 255\35\18 on the rear
on the front i LOVE them, once heated they grip like crazy, very stiff sidewalls and predictable behavior on the rear i like them less, because they grip too much
seriously now, for their price tag, these tires are awesome,
i have had R1Rs, hankook RS3 and AD08 and ASSYMETRIC F1
the 595RSR wins on the summer performance side,
havent tried them while raining.

i will have a sound clip for my exhaust soon
just received the gopro adapter for the external mic
this was sound recorded on my previous gopro that had the older type adapter that worked
mic was mounted about 5" from the exhaust tip

EXHAUST IS STOCK with only the CP-E ctless pipe

its on a very short closed circuit we had around here

That looks good!
Should flow well, and the 3.25" pipe is tucked up there nicely.
I'm keen to hear sound clips.

the only rubbing i get with this is on my driveway exit, which is STEEP as hell! but i go about it very slowly

i prompted for two large mufflers because a) i didnt want any midrage drone b) i wanted it to be quiet at idle and freak'n loud and most of all BASSY on load, and it is exactly what i wanted

i will update with sound soon
