Lightbulb Is there a dct flash? - 05-15-2016, 01:33 AM

My S2 FBO E82 DCT coupe does some weird stuff now and then like changing into third from second early when in manual mode (into it) or misfiring on gear change. I always drive it with traction control totally off because even with the quaife i cant drive it hard with just the dtc activated. It almost feels like engine torque management stopping the show.
Anyone else have these issues or know how to fix them? (other than going back to stock).

Cheers!

There is no DCT specific flash but if you are an N55 E82, you should be able to run a flash via Cobb. This will allow the DME to see actual load and adjust the transmission line pressures accordingly.

Steve pardon my ignorance but is this how Terry's E85 BEF works? (I am running it).

Yes, the load targets are increased in the BEF.

You can also flash the 335is dct software. It increases the clutch pressure. I haf it done with my e92. Maybe it works also for the e82.

You did it to an e92 335i DCT right, not to a 335is

What differently did it make for you

Yes. 335is dct software on an 335i. It increased the clutch pressure. You could se it with inpa.

What is the ZSub for the is DCT flash and which V datens?

This could be great news for any post 2012 DCT cars who want to make the move to say a PS2 but cannot increase DME boost as they are unable to BEF.

Anyone out there with a 335is DCT that can check via INPA?

Edit - no longer needed. Just found what I was looking for.

In daten V55, the following DCT (EGS / GS40) zsubs apply.

135i: 8606070
135is (limited production with DCT): 8606072
335is: 8606074.

From what I can see, the only difference between the 135is and the 335is is the launch control. 335is is 5000rpm whereas 135is is 3500.

In theory, the 135is and 335is DCT flash should offer increased clutch pressure over the 135i DCT flash. Possibly good news for those targeting higher boost that can't BEF

Would be great if someone with say a PS1, PS2 or other upgraded turbo who doesn't have a BEF, or even better, has a MEVD 1726 ECU, could try this and report back. As with anything like this though - only do if you're 200% sure of what you're doing an do at you're own risk.

OK - there's rumours of a GTRR flash but it's v rare and from what I can find, there's more to it than just hook up WinKFP.

I bet this is one of the limited M3 GTS flashes in which case it should be capable of holding quite a bit of torque.

Thanks

Keyap i found this
Both ZB numbers are for the GS40 TCU. But 8606090 is on the n54 DCT.
From the best I can gather ZB numbers 8606074 and 8606090 share the same ECU identifier, project, and program version. Only the data versions differ; 74=0GL00, 90=0FO00. They were even released on the same day. That being said, likely the only difference is calibration (i.e. US vs. ECE)

I have an Australian-delivered (Europe Spec) 2011 E92 335i MSport N55 DCT and was running ZB 8606068 as per how I received the car. I have been noticing some translip and slow tip-in so decided to try out another ZB. Initially I was going to try ZB 8606090 as suggested by trebila but it wasn't in the datens but instead my coder found an updated version of it listed as ZB 8647881. I have only driven the car a couple of days but the translip seems to be gone and no real slow tip-in as yet. So that's good. However the gear changes are definitely slower than the original version, more like an AT than DCT. I'm wondering if anyone else has this version and wants to share their experience? Wondering if maybe I should try find the ZB 8606090 or ZB 8606092.
