Default BavAuto HiPo Coils - Any Experience?!? - 02-06-2019, 02:51 AM

Been looking at these for awhile. No issues with my current coils so I haven't pushed the envelope.

Anyone have these installed and have feedback, +/-?

I've got them on my 535i, 2008, mods below. I've had them around 15,000 miles, no issues at all. I can't say whether they are better than the OEM Bosch they replaced. The Bosch were all original except one and I was dealing with misfires once I started modding. Now, no misfires and the car runs great. I think it would be difficult to discern exactly how the BAV Auto perform without some monitoring software way more sophisticated than I own. Personally I would probably save the money next time as I believe there are bigger bangs for your money such as: tuning software/hardware, e85 and related fueling upgrades, colder plugs, etc...It may be worth it If you've maxed out your performance and are looking for a bit more. But then you likely would be at the point of buying one of the racing coil sets commonly discussed on these and other forums.

It looks like they took an eldor coil and painted the clip red...

I personally went with Delphi coils as these are used on the newer motors (n55/s55/n63/n20)
