Exclamation Ambient Thermal Management IS BACK!! N54 FMIC - FORUM DISCOUNT + FREE SHIPPING! - 06-02-2017, 05:04 PM

Hello all, my name is Dave and I'm one of the new owners of Ambient Thermal Management (the engineers and company behind the original stepped-core N54 FMIC) As some of you know ATM had been MIA recently and even went dormant in 2016. Well, in the beginning of 2017, ATM was acquired by new owners and since then we've been working hard to get their products back into manufacturing as well as a new website ready. Our goal is to offer the same top quality BMW FMIC's as well as several exhaust and intake options, while improving communication and customer service.

And it gets better....our website is live! Check us out at: www.atmspeedshop.com. No more waiting for group buys.

Our products will continue to have the same top-notch, performance leading results, and now even have some improved finish options! We look forward to supporting the community with our current products and hopefully offering even more performance parts in the future.

Looking for a top-notch FMIC for your E8X/E9X series N54? ATM is back in the game with our infamous FMICs.

ATM is offering a special introductory discount for the N54Tech community on its N54/N55 FMIC's!

I just watched a friend install one of these on his XI and can vouch it's the identical quality of my original Helix! Dave is a great guy to deal with. Also his intake for the 335d is amazing! Thanks Dave!

We have had customers buy this in the past for the E60 series but unfortunately have not been able to confirm plug and play fitment 100%. If you are willing to try please PM/email me and we'll see how we can assist to make it happen. Wish we could get access to an E60 locally!

Please don't take this as being smart, but this unit is one of the most independently tested and logged FMICs on the market, even in comparison to our competitors. I will post some data shortly. However, we will do a discount for forum members like yourself!

Thanks Tom! Our units have even more features and revisions compared to the original design, including powdercoat options that are now available!

This one is our N55 core, but very similar:

Yes! But different fitment due to the quick-release connections on the N55. Our N55 unit is direct 'plug-and-play'. You can compare and see the differences on our website.

I will do the same and let you know if I find anything. One thing you can also look for are other comparisons. Above you can see that our core beats the ETS so you may be able to find a VRSF vs ETS comparison, etc.

Couple of other factors to keep in mind....Core facial area ALWAYS wins over core thickness due to the fact that the majority of cooling takes place in the front few inches of the core. This is where ambient air temp is the coolest and takes away most of the heat. So you could have a 10" thick core and a 5" core with more facial area will actually cool better.

Also, our FMIC's don't require a lot of hacking/modifications to the car. If I recall correctly the VRSF 7" does require a decent amount of cutting.

Hope this helps....

A suggestion for clarification on your website: add a specific label for e9x n55. There are e9x n54, f series n55 2012+, and the diesel m57 options. No option for the E series n55. My car is a 2011 e90 n55. Do I pick the e9x n54 or the f series n55?! Note: I am using the mobile version of the website.

Question:. Does the intercooler come with new mounting hardware? Any option to purchase OEM mounting hardware?

Glad you brought this to our attention! I certainly do need to update this and doublecheck the fitment to make sure it will work for you.

OK, I have answers. Our E9X N54 FMIC will in fact fit your car. You would need the 2009+ J-pipe to do so. We actually doublechecked and also spoke with this customer: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1069879 This is a N55 and even though it is a 135i it uses the same piping as the E9X N55. So you are good to go. We will update the website to reflect this. Thanks again for bringing it up.

As far as mounting goes, our kit reuses the existing OEM bolts and we supply special washers to work with those factory bolts.

Hope this answers your questions/concerns!

We've had our N54 FMIC on a 690whp car with no signs that it was costing power or cooling. Because of the unique design of our rounded header bars, each row essentially has a velocity stack that allows the core to flow more air compared to other intercoolers of the same size or even larger.

Thank you. Have a CXRacing V-type and strongly considering switching to yours. Would there be any issues putting this FMIC in place with all the shrouding cut away? I suppose I could get a new shroud, but would rather not.

Looking forward to forum discount/group buy info.

I wish I could answer that but we're not too familiar with how much cutting needs to be done on the CXRacing unit. Perhaps some rubber edge trim would work? Wish we could offer more info.....

Funny you asked We've just released a new intro/forum discount. Details in a few.

By the way, the N54 price is even less. I believe you were looking at our diesel FMIC.

How is the compared to the VRSF 7.5 size wise?
I know you said it hold 690whp. Do you have any logs for the performance on back to back run around 22+ psi?
Do you have them in stock ready to ship?

I will get some measurements of the core for you but just by looking visually I can tell you our core isn't as tall. However, keep in mind size does not tell all. The reason FMIC's are increased in volume is obviously because of airflow limitations but our core will absolutely outflow others of the same size and larger because of its unique design. Also, you've probably noticed that half of that core sits behind the bumper, that certainly is not optimal for cooling.

I will do some digging for those logs.....we take pride in the fact that our FMIC's are some of the most logged and posted on the market. Feel free to do some searching yourself. I'm also trying to get a hold of one of our big hp car customers to get some logs from him.

And in stock and ready to go! Both black and silver
