Default 135i 1/4 mile runs - 06-01-2018, 08:20 AM

Well, brought my FBO N55 135i with some E85 in the tank on map5 with the JB4 to the drag strip and ran a best 13.2 @ 108. Had a 2.5 60' on that run with the stock run flats. Lowest time was a 14.7 @ 107. Got way sideways on that one, let out and got back into it. Had a 2.3 60' on that run. Kinda disappointing, but it was my first time at the track. Definitely time to put some new rubber on.

It was also in the 80's and damn near 100% humidity that day.

Seem about right? I limited boost in 1st and 2nd gear, to around 8 pounds, but that still did not help.

Manual or auto? Did you do a burnout before lining up? I would think the traps to be in the 110 area, but you did say it was hot and humid.

I have a DCT car and didn't do any burnouts. I think I'm spinning more than I realize with how quiet the run flats are.

I did get a 109 trap on a 13.6 run.

DA was at 2852.

His times will get better with more practice. The important thing is how his trap speeds are that indicate if his car is actually making the power it should.

Now too bad, yea the run flats don't help at all. You'll get better with some practice. I recommend a dragy device as well if you want to practice on a closed course.

Everybody was having really bad traction issues it seemed, but these original runflats need to be changed ASAP, haha. Pretty sure they are the originals that came on the car in 2011 even though they have full tread.

I also need to get some logs as well since installing the flex wires and using E85 to make sure that is going smoothly. Seat of the pants it made such a difference.

That looks like a cool device, I'll have to read into it a little more.

We need a launch option.
I have tried a million ways to launch and they (I) all suck.

Your 13.2 with the 2.5 60 tells me if you simply stomp the gas on green and pump out a 2.1 60 you are about 12.4 which seems about right (and pretty good).

Come on MHD help us dct guys out!

That was my method, just kept blowing the tires off though! I am hoping for a mid 12 once I get spin city under control. Going to try a few different ways this week when I go again.

I'd say if you are doing that then you need to swap out the runcraps.
Nitto make some fairly priced tires invo etc.
Just chuck a bmw mobility kit in the back.
Mid 12s easy , it's all 60ft.

The power is definitely there. I think I may go the route with just a rear tire drag set up for now till I need new tires. The runcraps still have so much life left.

I did the same kinda thing as u in my 11 335 with all bolt ons minus the front mount rand 12.9 at 105 with runflats. I cut a 1.9 60 foot however. Once the car was heatsoaked here in FL i was running 13.2 at 110 and I was only able to get a sub 2 60 foot once the tires are garbage.

I dont think lowering tire pressure helps much on those runflats best bet is to just replace em. Anyone serious about their track times should be buying lsd and drag radials anyway.

Did a little better tonight got a 12.91 @ 111 with a 2.25 60'. That was consistent for about 4 runs.

Running street tires at the drag strip, is like wiping your ass with a turd.

Save yourself the headaches, and just run a set of DR's or even better, a set of true slicks.

Default What are you shifting at? - 06-29-2018, 07:42 PM

I was running the same times you are with same mods. Went home from the track with my tail between my legs. Emailed Terry and he suggested a couple things. Reduce 1st gear boost to 10 psi and shift at 5k rpms.

Went back three days later and ran 12.79 @ 112. That was even with a really dismal 60’ of 2.29. Had I run that lower I would’ve been mid to low 12’s.

Also I think I was running Map 7 with a healthy dose of e85. I ran the logs by Terry and everything looked good so I continued with that at the track.

Now running a PS1 and best time so far is a 12.3 with a 2.2 60’. Have firehawk Indy 500’s on the car as well but I’m sure the new power is negating the tires.
