Angry DME failure! 30BB - 12-07-2017, 11:58 PM

So my DME failed yesterday, I got a code 30BB and misfire codes on cylinders 4,5, and 6. Iíve been looking at options and came across a company called RPM motorsports, and if I send mine in they can record all the data from MSD80 board to the newer MSD81 board for $1000. I was just wondering if anyone has heard or gone through them, want to know if they are reputable.

Thanks

Yep mosfet driver failure is an easy fix if you know how to remove components and solder in new ones.

If you are going MSD81, which I did, buy eBay DME and ship current DME, CAS, and donor DME to this guy. Best price I found and respected in the community.

Do NOT pay $500 to do the mosfets. You can swap to MSD81 for that and be done with it.

Common problem but easy fix these days, on the crappy MSD80.

I just had the same thing happen to my car, first run after a long winter. Also got a few other codes.

I'm very, very glad to read this is likely just failed driver FETs, as I am pretty handy with air/iron solder work.

What replacement FET's should I order? Mouser? Digikey?
