Default Boostane and map2 - 10-20-2020, 05:25 AM

Hi Terry - I recently purchased the jb4 for my 2019 M550i. Is it safe to leave it on map2 for everyday driving? I use 93 gas
With the use of boostane pro, should I use a different map?

Yes map2 should be fine for 93 octane, and you can run up to around 30% E85 as well. Start with map2 on that too.

Installed JB4 a few weeks ago, but cant get anything to connect. Bluetooth: Pixel 3XL, Samsung s20, and Samsung S9... all running Android 11. BMS Cable: Asus G14 running Windows 10. Both TMAP connections and OBDII cable connected, tried everything... Only thing i did not do was test the board itself for power. Where should i place my meter to test? thx. Just email support for help, support@jb4connectkit.com. Adapter may be defective or wrong one for the JB4.

Sounds like a failed update then. You'll need to disconnect the JB4 until you can get the firmware loaded properly. Contact support@jb4connectkit.com and describe what happened. It's possible we'll need to send you a new 2580 chip to pop on and reset it.

Is there a way to get the car out of limp mode prior to or post disconnecting jb4?

Just need to reverse the TMAP connections for the moment I'm afraid. Then the car will go back to running normally.

Just to confirm what version of app are you using? The log above is from a data cable/windows?

Hey Terry, Recently got a 2020 X5 M50i!
But do I need the OBD port connected for stage 1 operation, or only TMAP? Trying to see if I can make it a faster install without having to install the OBD portion... thank you!

Answered my own question, I was looking at the wrong PDF for installation. The N63R clearly states Tmap only... thanks! Ill find out if its possible to install without removing as much paneling.. cross fingers and get my long stemmed tools ready!

You shouldn't have to remove any panels unless you want to run the wires for clean mounting. The TMAPs are accessible without it. The TU3 trucks should be the easiest of all installs due to airbox placement. On the cars we need to remove the crossbraces and airboxes. You don't have either one in the way, so you should have clear access.

The OBD install should take maybe 5-10 minutes. No inner panel removal is needed from what I've read. Just slit the grommet, run a stiff wire through, tape the plug to it and pull it back out.

Thank you for the response! But is OBD necessary for only stage 1? I know OBD is required for logging, for obvious reasons. But was wondering if only stage 1 is desired, is TMAP only connections okay. Similar to a JB+, where no logging typically can be done, was curious if it's the same sort of functionality.

Supposedly it defaults to Map 1 without the OBD. So it should work, just won’t be optimized.

Hi. Does anyone know the part number to the M10x55 hex bolt that attaches the cross bar to the strut dome? We're supposed to remove it for the JB4 install on the X7 and the service manual says to replace the bolt once it has been removed. Thank you!
