Default Map 6 logs with Octane booster - 04-14-2021, 07:46 PM

Hi, I re tested my map6 with octane booster, previous test is here

Map 6 Veloster N NON PP - N54Tech.com - International Turbo Racing Discussion

Used STP Octane booster and raised octane from 93 to ~98.

Wondering if the octane booster helped enough to make map 6 stable enough for daily driving, thanks.

Also curious what Octane booster you guys recommend.

Use Boostane, Race Gas or Toroco. Don't use it too much it will turn things orange. You should move to water methanol injection to increase octane and cooling.

Set FUA to 1, otherwise it looks pretty normal thus far.

I'd say no to Map6, timing from 3.8 to 4.5 degrees are being pulled out.... Too much. Also, before you even hit 65 mph your IAT's were already climbing and that was just one gear. I'd follow Djfourmonie advice and go with Meth if you want to run a custom high boost profile.

Are those timing variations that big of a deal?

I see a lot of other logs and 0-4 seems normal.

Even in map 2 I run into ~3.8 on 93 octane.

No there is no danger. However, you are on N54 Tech International Turbo Racing Discussion.

The unwritten expectation beyond sharing your logs is that you are interested in performance.

Checking logs for 93/92/91/90 whatever is more about convenience not performance and checking to see if you have the JB4 connected properly.

This is a place where people that like going fast are free to discuss these things without the discussion about blow-off valves, exhaust, crackle and pop tunes and other ways to mimic race cars without actually owning one.

You mentioned putting octane booster in your gas tank and asked what we recommend.

Did you expect something you can find on the shelf at Autozone? Okay VP Octanium Unleaded - Octanium Unleaded Octane Booster | VP Racing Fuels, Inc

That will raise your octane 10 points on average, IE it will turn your premium fuel into race fuel. You should see much higher ignition timing numbers. I just find it and the ones I mentioned earlier really expensive for constant use.

If E85 is not readily available, then water-methanol injection is your next best bet.

The investment is upfront but you can forget buying octane boosters or expensive race gas.

VP MS109 is $80 for 5 gallons and if you are going to buy race gas you might as well get the best available.

The knock is you still won't make as much power as either E85 blends or water methanol injection and you can make more still with both.

So in other words you must determine how serious you are about your car's performance.
