Default New to JB4 - 12-13-2018, 05:21 PM

So I recently sold my 11 E92 and bought an 18 F80 ZCP. I put the BMS intake and JB4 on it almost immediately from a friends suggestion. I had an opportunity to run it on the dyno, but it didnt really seem like I was getting much out of the JB4. Can you tell me if this is normal?

Ive attached the dyno run from last week. This was 2 pulls in map 1, with 93 octane.

Also included are logs from a few back road pulls i did tonight (just got my data cable in) one in map 0 and the other in map 1.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

You need to do dyno runs in 5th gear to get accurate results. The map1 log itself seems reasonable though.

Thanks for the quick reply Terry!

That first run on the dyno sheet was actually 5th gear, but it hit top speed limiter. The second pull was in 4th. I just felt like it was a little lower than what I was expecting so I wanted you guys to check what I was able to get. As a side note, during the dyno session my Jb4 was about 4 versions out of date. I ordered the data cable and immediately updated it, as well as captured those logs I provided yesterday.

What about map 2? Being that I have the MPE exhaust, is that safe to run or do I need to wait for “additional exhaust mods...” later on?

440whp is a stock number if measured properly. I was just going off the log done in 3rd gear. Looking at the dyno it seems it was done in too low of a gear.

Looking at the log I think map2 would be fine. Once it's all updated let's do another round of logs and evaluate.

Sounds good! Right now its wet and rainy. It should clear up and be decent enough to hit some "closed" roads sunday. As far as the dyno goes, I have to book that a week, sometimes two weeks out. that will probably have to happen after the new year. Ill get a few logs from map2 just for peace of mind though soon.

Thanks again!

Alright gentlemen, tonight was the night i was going to collect some map 2 logs for review, but I think something weird is happening. Is it normal to have to unplug my neg battery terminal each and every time I want to connect my laptop via data cable to my jb4?

let me explain a little better.... i can use the software just fine right after plugging up my battery. my laptop detects the cable and the jd4 no issue. fast forward to when im done whatever in the software... i disconnect by the dropdown menu, and remove the usb cable. FROM THIS POINT ON my laptop will NOT detect the JB4 even if i replug it immediately to the same port. I have to physically disconnect and reconnect the neg terminal in my car, and THEN the jd4 immediately shows up.

Is this normal behavior? I didnt see anyone with a similar issue after a quick search.

All that said, i was able to capture a data log after removing the neg terminal again. thoughts on map 2 with only MPE? I noticed it cut back on its own right about 6500 rpm.

Short log with little full throttle, but looks normal to me...

Yea, sadly I was really short on time so I only really got to get a single quick capture. Maybe after the kids go back to their mothers next week i'll be able to have a little more fun with it. Thanks for the look though.

Any thoughts/comments on the other issue? (having to unplug and reconnect the neg terminal every time I want to connect my JB4 to my laptop)
