Default 135i vs GT3RS - 03-29-2011, 09:29 PM

so it was a saturday morning and i decided to go to the track with my mates.
He drove porsche gt3rs
the trip to the track takes around 1hour of normal highway driving and since its saturday morning, the highway is pretty empty.

my mods were :
JB3 Stage 1 (N55)
AR DP
HPA drop in air filter

and some other suspension mods:
eibach sways
bilstein coils pss10

we were driving normally until the gt3rs decides to have a little fun.
he slowed down next to me and start yo-yo-ing me
at 1st i ignored him as i thought theres no way i wud beat that car.
and i was like, o heck, y not. lets give it a try :D
and he did the honking and bam
we were dead even!
thats a stock brand new gt3rs :D
i was surprised, my mate was also surprised lol

right after that he asked my what can he change from his gt3rs, i said to him that nothing can be changed, that car is near perfect. lol he wanted more powaaaaa..

we'll have a 2nd round soon, i just chnaged my exhaust (berk full race) :D this will be an interesting match.

What MPH did you go to? I would think he would start to pull up top...those things don't start making power until 5k rpms like the e9x M3's...

Search Google for "M5board.com Event 335i JB3 vs Porsche 997 GT- 3 RS"

Now, yes i agree the N54-355i in the video has more mods than the 135i-N55 from the OP, however the GT3RS in the video gets literally spanked...so I do not doubt the OP at all.

GT3RS traps around 116 to 120 so don't tell me that the N55 with just a tune and DP can hang in there.

I am aware that the N54 can do it i did not question that at all.

You guys are not thinking about altitude... I used to pull on E9X M3's all day long when my 135i was stock, im at 5 5000 ft, maybe the OP is at considerable elevation too.

I've been thinking about how my car (N55, JB3 Stage 1 beta) stacks up with the tuned N54s after I raced a Gallardo Spyder and kept him right by my door until around 120 when he started pulling. My theory is even though we don't make as much power (tuned N55) as the tuned N54s, the magazines are claiming that stock for stock the N55 hits 140mph around 1 second faster. Maybe it's because our top end doesn't drop off as much (it certainly doesn't feel like it does to me, at least not until I climb into our Carrera S and am blown away by that things top end).

Whatever the case, I've been shocked at what cars I can keep up with and which ones I absolutely blow away.

Another thing to keep in mind, the GT3 RS has a lot of downforce and therefore aero drag and it has a shorter rear end so the driver becomes that much more important even in a drag race compared to other 911s.

It's only 77lbs of downforce at 125MPH...below 125mph it is not even going to be a factor...

I thought the 997.2 had 220lbs, I remember seeing a video where some guy from Porsche explained that it had 200lbs over the front axle and 20 over the rear and those numbers stuck with me because they're very unusual (but so is a 911)

Either way you're right about the fact that the drag wouldn't really be an issue, I guess. I was just thinking out loud.

your 135i is stage 1, so its max crank hp is 370hp and 470nm torque and weight like 1500kg. the porsche gt3rs in stock has 500hp with 460nm of torque and weight 1390kg. Theres something wrong about the results. Im a 135i owner and my car surprises me also with these kind of results :p try another drag race with him and let me know the results again

elie this post was from 2011 when the GT3RS had the 3.8 with 450hp/317lb-ft, its not that hard to beat one in a straight line. You're thinking of the 4.0 that came out in 2012 with 500hp.
