Default Map 6 100% e85 s55 jb4 log - 04-26-2018, 05:12 AM

So I did a log to see if things are ok in Map 6. The first run I stepped off the pedal at around 4800rpm coz I felt a bit of hesitation or jerk so I wasn’t sure it was knock or not. The 2nd run was smooth though..

Not much timing I noticed?

If you have a thread going already, use the same thread for updates.

Don't see any tuning issues in the log but timing is not super high. How does map1 and map2 look?

I didn’t log meaningfully in Map 1 or 2 for that matter but map 1 I was getting stalling issues.

Anyway I found another map 6 22 psi log which shows longer rpm to 7000rpm and timing looked better. Only thing my fol was 0 coz I was trying to troubleshoot my 119404 code. I wasn’t on full throttle in the early stages of the run coz I was losing traction rear end lol.

The previous log I gave you was cut short due to a hazard in front.

I’d take terry’s advice, and post a map 1 or 2 log, and we can work up from there

Ok we’ll do. Just checked all my connectors at workshop and reconnected them.

Hopefully no more 119404 codes.

Did a couple more runs in Map 6 before and I forgot my traction control was still on and saw the traction light flash in 3rd. That log showed very little timing like the one I posted above esp cyl 1.

So I switched it off fully and these 2. Timing has improved looks like.

Ok did a Map 2 log.

Yes timing came in much earlier.. maybe due to settings in map 6 or the calculated torque for trans?

This logs too short you only go WOT for 700-800 rpms total.

Would need longer log to accurately evaluate.

Ok after 2 weeks of issues from flash to jb4 codes coming from everywhere at random, we finally stumbled on the fact that the connector into the jb4 casing was not fully inserted! It must have come loose somehow.

So I did a log in Map 2. I’ve been experiencing a splitter around 4500 rpm usually in map 2 or 6. I’m just waiting on regapping my oem plugs to 0.020. If they look bad then in goes the ngk 97506.

The only codes I’m getting are the 118001 mixture 1 lean and 118100 mixture 2 lean. But my trims and afr look good?

I find that if I don’t clear them, eventually I get a little engine light on the dash but I still get full power mode. Will this code be in the auto delete category soon?

Timing looks a bit low though unless it’s to do with my plugs ..

Also in 3rd gear I was sure I put the pedal to the metal around 3500rpm but logs show otherwise ...and this isn’t the first time I’ve noticed this ..

Please comment on the log. Tx

Tx Terry. No need to kill the car hehe. I got my n54 for that already.

I want to go map 6 and 25 psi that’s my goal.

I shouldn’t worry about those lean codes eh? Btw firmware 1.8.3 T 9 works just fine for fud e85 enrich

Terry how do I get round the lean mixture codes 118001 and 118100. Will there be an auto delete function for this in future?

If I don’t delete it everytime I see it and it creates the little engine light on the dash, will the dme start to change anything? Tx

If outside USA passive delete can be used on the WMI page, or wait for MHD to provide the tools to disable them. Or ignore them they don't do anything at all.

So I went to Map 6 now and did a log in 4th targeting 23psi. Seems good and clean. I didn’t take it past 6000 since I ran out of road lol. Then I increased to 24.6psi target and I would get some stuttering around 5700-5800rpm. Most likely plugs? I’m oem plugs and oem gaps.

What do you think Terry? Narrow gap to 0.020 ?

Yea the first log looked super clean, everything right where it's supposed to be.

Same thing happened to me on my M4 once turning it up on e85. I upgraded my plugs and did a tighter gap, never had an issue since. NGK 97506 I gapped mine at .019" Find them here:

Tx mate. Luckily I bought a spare set of these for my 335i originally. U wouldn’t recommend just reducing the oem m4 plug gap ?

You can try that since I assume they're still fairly fresh.

Hi Payam

Yeah so I tried out my Map 6 25psi target runs on 100% e85.

I have reduced my plug gaps to 0.020 in.

Gave it a squirt in 3rd and it stuttered badly so backed off. I’ve attached log. Timing was cut in all cylinders it seems.

Tried a few other runs in 4th gear but it still stuttered it a bit and if it didn’t timing was non existent and car felt slow.

So I dialed bk the boost to 22.6psi and attached log for this. Seems perfect timing again.

Any ideas? Should I try a new set of ngk 97506s at 0.020in? Maybe these M4 plugs are not up to it or it’s something else?

Also why is avg Ign still at 0.0 when I know I had timing cut in the first log?

Tx

Oh noticed fph dipped to 14. Maybe that’s the issue. Too high e85 perhaps?

I'm not sure why you're getting that issue when turning up the boost. The M4 plugs have no issues with me. What happens when you run map 2 or 7 and hit that target boost?
