Default Track Day, Tire Wear - 05-05-2016, 02:10 PM

Does anyone know why excessive feathering would happen from one track day? Camber adjustment possibly? I know I am on it pretty hard, but this only happened on the outside front tire on the track, so it's definitely running the hottest out of the two front tires.

Wear in the middle like that indicates over inflation. Those look like PSS, so shoot for 38-40 HOT which means around 29 cold most likely. Camber wear would be on inside or outside shoulder, not the middle of the tread.

I did a little research and it sounds like understeering and drivign style will be large contributing factors. I am sure I was running high pressure since the pressure was not adjusted prior to the track. Good to know they might be related!

PSS self destruct like that on track, mine did exactly that. great on road, not so great on track.

Turns out to be more driving style, which I figured. I got a new set and did the same track and did not get the same results. You can't rough house these tires, and try to oversteer the car beyond the available grip. Good to know, and not all that surprising!
