Unhappy Code 387f please help! - 07-15-2017, 03:07 AM

Hi guys,

Since I installed a jb4 and rev3 kit on my e82 n55, i keep getting the code 387f (closed current violation) after not driving the car for a couple of hours.
Has everybody got this issue or is something not right?
The code goed away after 2 min.

Thanx all!!

Where is power on your connect kit installed?

Any other mods?

you'll need to post up a log so we can review it.

There are no logs possible, because the code comes only at startup and goes away after driving the car 5 meters.
But I lost 2 battery's in 6 months due to this problem I guess.

So something about my jb4/rev3/ ... keeps on running over night.
This all was installed by people who install a few jb4's / rev3's / ... eacht week, so them making a mistake is normally not possible.
We looked 4 or 5 times to the connections so we are sure the rev3 kit is to the 5v red wire.
My guess is, something keeps my jb4 awake when my car is off. But what... ?

We hooked the car to a scanner and it's not the car itself doing this, also the alternator is OK and the battery is new.

I read a lot of topics with people having this problem but never a solution?

Where are you getting power for the JB4 from? On our N55 we use a keyed source (red wire in black connector at the back of the DME box). Are you running an OCC?

The jb4 gets power from the tmap wire and the rev3 gets power from the jb4.
I have no occ.

Well, the Rev 3 gets its power from the TMAP 5v (the red wire in the JB4 harness). Your JB4 is probably wired to a constant ON 12v battery source. That is what causes the drain.

You're very welcome.

Yes, and it works for me. I would get a battery drain message after letting the car sit for 2 days before doing this.

Are there any pics of where to have the JB4 get it's power from so it doesn't drain the battery?
