Sorry meant more like ducts off the front bumper for the cooling, or do you just have nothing attached?

Gotcha, none right now but I did trim and blackout some stuff to make it looks cleaner. In the future it will run the shrouds from ER.

Dedicated tablet for the car

One of the led clusters in the tail lights were on the way out. Both units are at full power in this photo

Replacement arrived

Time to mod

Much better

Stock vs Not-Stock

Only 1 out of the 4 tails are modded, can you guess which one it is?

Much better

It is going to look so good

I did some testing to confirm output after the mods. My goal is to improve aesthetics and function simultaneously and I believe this mod checks both boxes. The chrome bowls for the turn signal were left chrome so the LEDs operate with 100% reflection and since the trim around the chrome is painted black is offers greater contrast and "pops" more when flashing. For the brake lights the oem bulbs work well and have a more uniform effect from the bowls but I feel like the LED bulbs and the intense light they omit rearward grab my attention very well, again the black contrast helps them pop.

Sorry for the delayed response, please see above.

------------------------------------------

Matt's car has been running strong, daily driven at 26psi. I have been acquiring most of those miles since he is gone competing in Rio and my E61 is still under construction.

The car received a new oil change with Shell Rotella 5w-40 along with some new Redline MT85.

In those pictures there are 4 sections of tail light, only the fourth (outer right) was modified with black paint. I was going to do the complete tail lights but the inner sections which house the reverse lights were not cooperating when I was attempting to open them.

The 335xi has NY plates but it was out in CA for a bit as the owner (who lives in NY) works in CA for the summer and this is his car for that season.

As far as hybrid turbos vs single, personally I much prefer the fast spool of the hybrids for a daily driven car. The single turbo is definitely fun with the run-to-redline and power potential but for the street it is a big excessive. Quick spool, accessible power, and 550-600whp is a great useable setup for a street car IMO. The powerband and spool of the new VTT GC Lites look to be about perfect for my intended use.

I posted this elsewhere on the forum but not in the build thread, I whipped up some custom headlights for the E90. They feature Porsche 997 projectors, LED corner light, and an angel eye delete amongst other things.

All good things must come to an end.

The E90 was shipped back to my buddy's house in New York. While I was storing the car it was a nice mutually beneficial situation where the car got a lot of much needed attention (and free labor), as a by product I had access to use this beast as needed while my E61 was on jack stands for 12 months undergoing surgery.

Some Final Thoughts
While big single turbo setups personally aren't for me in a daily driver, which is confirmed after getting my wagon back up and running with it's hybrid setup, I certainly see the appeal and the addiction to a big ST car. Once in boost the way this thing covers ground is impressive, it never made it on a dyno but considering the mods, boost, etc. I would guess this thing was right around 600awhp.

Aside from some inconsistent ethanol cold starts the engine was flawless, it never had a misfire and never went into limp mode once which is pretty impressive, oil temps would quickly get up to 220-230F but would stay consistently right around 230F no matter how hard I drove (didn't track, only street pulls). The upgraded ER race coolers did a great job.

The car was driven hard but never abused, 1st gear was limited to 17psi, 2nd was 22psi, 3rd+ was 26psi, and the AWD system did a great job handling the power. Car was rarely given full beans in first, most pulls were 2nd or 3rd. Traction control never intervened ever since the car always hooks up with the R888s. Spec 3+ and MFactory SMFW never hinted at flinching. With the amount of power and grip available there is no surprise that something must give and near the end of my time with the car there is a slight wobble which developed and my hunch is it's from a front CV with excessive wear.

What this thing really need to become a true weapon is beefier suspension control arms, bushings, sway bars etc. to better handle all the forces the car can dish out.

Fun car, glad I had the opportunity to work on it and drive it as much as I did.
Evan
