Default N55 pure stage 2 bef + map 6 problems. - 08-22-2017, 08:10 PM

Ok so I have a pure stage 2 m235i with a bootmod3 bef and jb4. It's fbo with port injection. In these two logs im running e60 fuel and I changed my spark plugs like a week ago and gapped them to .022. im not having any misifire issues but for some reason Im getting timing corrections. I've tried 3 different tuners and for some reason whenever I try flashing the car with a bef the car pulls timing. The car doesn't pull timing on stock flash however...very strange. I've attached two logs.

You need to lower your fuel biases, trims are bottoming out.

You're overboosting a little at tip in so some DB tuning may help with that. Throttle is closing, maybe torque related and DME is pulling timing?

Yeah Steve I know about the trims and the overboosting i just didn't care to fine tune at the time since the car was pulling timing and I know that both those aren't causing it. I think it's torque related as well. What would that entail though like what could be the problem?

That would be difficult to address without a flash unless Terry has some additional options he can try on the JB4 firmware. Not sure if he can or not.

Have they tried to address it in your flash and raise the torque limiters?

Well its complicated. I cant run jb4 only because the car keeps trying to advance the timing too much and then throttle closes on stock flash, so Terry is telling me I need a bef so I can control the timing.

I asked and they said the torque limits are raised.

That is correct...not sure what to do about your timing at tip in though.

Me either and everybody I've talked to doesn't know what I should do either. Very frustrating. I'm about to give up and return it to stock.

The timing has to be fixed in the flash map, period.

Sorry to revive an oldie but I have a related question: What is the additional function(s) of the BEF's when combined/ran with a JB4 in 3.5 TMAP mode for use with the Pure Stage 2?

Is a function of BEF's to pull timing tables down to allow more boost to be run safely? If someone were to have a PS2 installed and not load a BEF to their JB4, what would happen as far as timing under boost?

I read above where MartinF22 said, "car keeps trying to advance the timing too much" and I got curious.
