Default New tuner X4 M40i (with PPF) - 02-09-2019, 12:40 AM

2 months in and 3,000 on the clock so looking to get a little more out of my X4 M40i (G02)

Back in my M135i days JB4 was the main choice and appears likewise with the B58.

Few newbie questions

1) what gains should I expect on stock car with just the JB4 (seen hp increase quotes but not on mine which comes with 354hp/500Nm)

2) any concerns with the PPF now on the B58 (yep aware itís just us EU owners who have to deal with this )

3) not naive and fully aware of warranty implications but want to leave the rest of the car untouched so would prefer to just fit and forget and then remove once I change cars, if I break something I just have to pay

4) is a replacement drop in filter worthwhile

5) am I right in thinking with the JB4 and the connect kit Rev3 I just connect everything up in the engine bay and nothing needs wiring into the cabin my phone does all the controlling

6) any G01/02 M40i owners want to share the experiences please fire away.

Thanks in advance

Also I’ve seen Mission ecu flash being talked about but it’s a name I’ve not really heard of.

So if Mission is a full ecu flash and JB4 is a piggy back unit what’s with the talk of a BEF?

I seem to understand you use a BEF with the JB4 as the BEF allows controlling of the ECU the JB4 can’t access but why run a JB4 & BEF and not go the full ECU reflash route?

Also if you run a JB4 and BEF can you still remove the JB4 when you return the car or will the BEF cause issues?

The jb4 allows you too log which is invaluable i went full flash and regret not getting a jb4 first.

Agreed, plus a bunch of other useful things like boost by gear, safety systems implements for overboosting/ fuel trims/ AFR etc.
