Default Something Exciting is Happening - 09-06-2019, 12:23 PM

I'm likely getting my wastedgate turbo's replaced under a used car warranty!!!!

It's like $3000 CAD coverage, if they opt to 1) cover me 2) cover to the maximum amount.

I wanted to ask 1) what price point is a single turbo conversion (complete kit), 2) What should I do???

Speedtech looks to be a good cheap single turbo option.

For the twins the GC or the RB would be a good choice.

So the speedtech also includes down *****, inlets and outlets for 3500sh. That seems like a really amazing price.

Being a noob here, i find the lack of information on RB turbo's website for each option lacking. Adding the upgrade options quickly gets you up in price. I know I'm looking and picking options for rebuilt oem turbos, but that's really it. Had people not spoken so well of RB I'd haves moved on already due to lack of knowledge on my part.

How do you figure you can do a swap under warranty?
You can't.

And FWIW, I'm doing a Speedtech swap.

IMO, going upgraded turbos only makes sense if you want more power, which will also take more fuel. So you'll have to include that in your cost.

For me I'm doing the lot,

S366 Speedtech kit: $3,800
VTT Double Barrel: $1,100
Boost Box: $200
Split Second: $350
MAC: $50
ETC stuffs: $500

Used car warranty. I'm not sure what i can get away with, but spending 3500 cad on just oem turbo's seems stupid.

My coverage is only 3k to begin with. So labor would all be out of pocket.

I should be able to get turbos for 2k and then install for a grand if i can take my repair to another shop.

Hi Pinsher,

Quick Note: Your warranty will not likely be allowed to apply to any other hardware than default OEM. I've read the fine print on my last aftermarket warranty, which covered a much higher value. There were a number of prerequisites, including maintenance records, etc.

I can't disagree that the RB website isn't as clear as some.
I find he's posted prices to this and other forums, along with clear HP targets, etc.
I too, was on his website this past week and had to search for his info elsewhere.

That said, all e-mail correspondence I've with him has yielded very fast responses with all options, hardware and peripherals detailed out.
I've read where many people had ongoing correspondence in tweaking setups and had great assistance and results.

He's very competitive price wise, and whatever he does sell, he's obsessed with it being flawless.

I suggest, at the very least, fire him an e-mail @ rob.rbturbo@gmail.com

Pure would be the competition in my mind. They seem to have an excellent track record, with possibly more overhead and price... but do your own research.
