Default Meth kit installed please advise - 02-21-2019, 08:06 PM

Just installed bms meth kit with two cm5 nozzles along with a n20 map sensor. Car is an 09 e90 auto, Fbo with stock location inlets. New O2 sensors installed with the DeePees. Using Boost juice for now.

Meth injection parameters are set per the guide. Should this thing be targeting 20psi on a 40 add setting?

This is on 93 octane and using the pump flash btw

So, flashed the race flash. Made a few pulls on the way to work this morning. Timing looks like crap and iat’s arent what I expected. I ended up getting kicked into map 4 a couple times due to low meth flow. In those two instances meth flow starts out at 100% and holds until the upper rpms where it begins to fall.

I was meticulous when installing this kit. All tubing and wiring is protected in cable sleeving and routed to ensure no kinks. I followed the install instructions to the letter and bled the system without issue.

I pulled the charge pipe and took videos of the spray pattern. Nozzles werent seated fully and pattern was horrible. Ran a tap through the bungs and got the nozzles to seat deeper. Pattern is much better. Timing and iat’s seem to be much better. Unfortunately im still getting kicked into map 4 on long pulls due to flow falling. After searching, it seems it may be a wiring issue. Probably my choice of ground location.

Ok. Worked on the car a bit this morning . Fsb and solenoid are grounded to factory ground points under the hood. Pump is now grounded to the negative post on the battery. Fsb is powered as shown in instructions. Pump is also powered as instructed but used butt connectors instead of wire nuts(used butt connectors from the start).

From here the only wiring issue I can see is the wire gauge included in the kit is insufficient or everything needs to be soldered. I did hours searching on installs etc. I see numerous people using the included wire and butt connectors and considering Burger includes wire nuts (which I find hokey) I find it hard to believe this is a problem.

Only did 1 pull and it kicked into map 4. Log included.

Ok. I think I have this issue figured out. Had a leak before the solenoid. Tightened all fittings and bled the hell out of the system.

Here's a log. This is a 30 add on the race flash.

This doesnít look bad.

boost looks good, trims seem in order.

Cyl 4 & 5 are a bit noisey

How does the car feel?

Car feels strong. Not as strong as as when I run an E60 mix. When running E the car has much more down low. The car ran 12.4 at 116 launching in 2nd with dismal 60ft times on that E60 mix a few weeks ago.

I was hoping that my timing and Iat’s would look a bit better. I see some folks logs and they look beautiful. Any ideas as to why? I swapped coils on cyls 1 and 4 and 4 is still noisy.

Walnut blasting, V/C gasket, and external pcv/catch can will be done soon. Also have a Wavetrac, Mfactory axles and new rear wheel bearings ready to go in. Hoping 11’s are around the corner.

Every car is different, what plugs are you using?

One step colder Ngk’s gapped at .022

So im assuming this is just par for the course? The car runs strong and is right there in ET/mph with other cars with the same or similar mods.

Any chance upping meth ratio and/or nozzle size would help?

Dumped 2 bottles of heet into one gallon of boost juice and upped the meth adder to 50.

Here's a log. Would have liked to stay in it longer in 4th but needed to hit the slow pedal. Car feels stronger, close to or the same as with the E60 mix.

This looks pretty good too. Little noise on cyl 4, not uncommon.

Up your duty bias at 5.5k to redline by 5- letís see if we can get you a bit closer to target.

Boost looks good.

Still getting some corrections, but it does look like timing is recovering post shift.

Overall impressions of the car?

The car feels strong, very close to or the same as on E. Traction is very limited at this point. Need to get that Lsd in. Hopefully the weather cooperates this weekend.

Anything left in your opinion? Meth content? Nozzle size? Is this about it as far as boost on stock turbos?

Keep in mind this is for glory runs only. I dont daily on “kill mode”

Cant thank you enough for your help!

Donít mention it man, happy to help.

Personally, the car looks happy, Iíd probably leave it for now, & when you get bored (and i know u will lol)- we can try & figure out the next move.

My advice has always been leave a little headroom, and when boredom sets in, THEN tweak it lol.
