Default VRSF 7" or 5" for stick turbos/DD? - 09-26-2016, 09:43 AM

I'm debating which version I should go with. Right now all I have is ER CP and BMS DCI with MHD Stage 1. An fmic is the next mod and I will move to the Stage 1+FMIC. So the question is, should I go with the smaller one or go big? I am still undecided if I want to get a ********* ** because of the raspyness. So I might not even go Stage 2, although it is possible. I don't plan on tracking regularly.

They just came out with a redesigned 7in with a high density fin design(same core as the 7.5 race one). Idk if anyone has one yet. Might be a good option. I'd love to hear more about it.

I was actually looking into the 7 inch HD+ they were offering and sent them a message a few days ago. This is what they replied with on Facebook.

"FBO cars would significantly benefit from the HD core since it features an incredibly dense fin pack. You can expect lower intake temps as well as faster recovery time with the HD core."

5 inch should be fine but it depends on your final goals for the car. If the 7 or stepped is not much more it can't hurt.

For major IAT suppression you can't beat meth.

Which offers better AIT suppression? If it were me I would go the 7 or stepped core. But if you are on a budget the 5 is fine and should work fine for your application. I still think people way over think intercoolers on this platform

They are both the same price, I'm thinking about the 7" for more air flow

I went with the 7. Growth is almost inevitable! Later on down the line, you may want more. In my case, I didn't want to end up buying the same parts twice.

Thanks guys, I suppose I will go with the 7" so I don't have to upgrade later. I'm debating between the VRSF HD core or the Wagner Evo II performance.

Even 7" core is not big enough if you do more than one pull. Just get the biggest one you can find. The effects on turbo lag will be minimal if you already have ***.

Agreed. I have the 7" and had it with stockers through Stage 2+. It was marginal for stockers in the AZ climate and insufficient for the stage 2+ at the 550ish whp level.

I went with "5" but it really does depend on you and final goals for the car. For me 5 was good enough. I went with ETS.

I went with the 7 inch and I am glad I did. I do run meth so between the two I never have issues with the IAT. Install was kind of a pain because of some of the cheap parts you get with the kit. Here is a link to my review.

I changed my mind. I live in the northeast, don't track, and its a daily driver. I'm deciding between the following FMIC's.

ETS 5"
Mishimoto
Wagner Evo I Performance

Do 7" ... You can use it with your current mods and it will still do the job if you decide to add more mods in the future

A stepped 5 usually looks better as it fills the entire bumper opening. I would still recommend a 7" though.
