Default Timing vs boost - 09-02-2019, 04:45 PM

I keep reading comments that imply boost is the ultimate. Why? To me, there is a balance between boost and timing, that results in optimal performance. For my 340i that is Map6-4.5 psi flat.

Appreciate your ideas.

I'm curious to see a log with 4.5 psi flat across the board on MAP 6

Hi,

A recent run is attached. I evaluate map performance based on the WOT slope of the rpm climb over time (R/T). After about 600 WOTs it becomes clear which variables matter. IAT is most important. The 4.5 map seems to provide the best acceleration (R/T) average, most stable ignition average, and the least IAT sensitivity.

Estimating whp for all maps, this one appears to do the best at about 371 whp.

MHD is next....probably. Still not convinced.
