MAP sensor codes with JB4 installed -
11-20-2020, 09:00 PM
I have an S55 JB4 that is causing a CEL with two MAP sensor codes. I’m wondering if I may have touched the USB cable to the positive jumper lug and fried it. The codes were:
* Ambient pressure sensor shorted to positive
* Boost pressure sensor shorted to positive
Sorry, I forgot to note the numeric portion of the codes. I removed the JB4 and cleared the codes and the car seems okay. What components on the board do I have to replace? Thanks!

If the car runs OK with the JB4 out then the TMAP ground is likely OK. You can always send in the JB4 board if you want us to test it out on the bench.

Yep, car is okay with JB4 removed. Do you sell replacement boards? I might just order one since that seems to be the issue. Thanks!

I received and installed the new board. No CEL's or anything, but there doesn't seem to be any CAN bus communication. I can't data log and holding the BC button on the turn signal stalk does not bring up the JB4 menu. I have it tapped directly into the yellow and black / blue CAN bus wires under the hood using the good posi-tap connectors you sell. Brown to yellow and green to black / blue. Any ideas on what to look at? I noticed the new board said EWG Rev 2 and my old one says x55 Rev 3. Can you confirm I received the correct board for an S55? Thanks!

CANbus needs to be attached to OBDII, or run to OBDII for tapping as shown.

Perfect! Thank you, Terry!!! I was using the instructions for the pre-OBDII version of the S55 JB4 and didn’t realize there was a difference. Thanks, again

I just went ahead and ordered the OBDII cable. I was hoping to avoid unplugging it every time I use the OBDII port for something else (which honestly isn’t that often), but that is actually more convenient than switching to Map 0 since I’m already down there...
I always over complicate things LOL.

You can just route the wires and posi-tap the back, but it has to be connected to the gateway not the PTCAN.
