Default 2step on automatic? - 11-20-2013, 12:21 PM

Would the 2step relay even work on an automatic car? I remember someone mentioning it would be useful for showing off.

I was thinking it might be useful for launches on automatics anyway. You can keep the accelerator floored when you release the brake to launch at a specific RPM instead of having to time flooring the throttle right when you release the brake.

We'll be developing 2STEP software for the AT to assist in single turbo launching.

I was just going to post about this. I bought the 2STEP DIY relay kit cause I was bored, ha ha, and because I figured it would eventually get developed further.

Is there anyone that has done it for an auto yet?

Why not for stock turbos?

I'm pretty sure what Terry meant was that there hasn't been a huge need for developing the code for automatics. But now that there are some single turbo guys with AT's, he is going to start working on it. Therefore, it will also work on stock turbo cars

I wired in the 2STEP relay kit for my auto. It doesn't seem to do much as far as I can tell, besides make my car freak out at 4k RPM and WOT,

I didn't wire in the clutch wires to anything, should I have? I just want to be able to see if I can make it work in park or neutral, but doesn't seem to be able to even do that...

How does NLS help an auto? How does one use it to help launch a ST? I was under the impression the torque converter limits your obtainable RPM in gear at a stop, wouldn't this only work in neutral? I'm genuinely wondering here...

I believe NLS is something different.

Although you can't get the RPM's higher on an auto with the 2 step, the expanding gases from the intentional misfires should elevate exhaust pressures to spool the turbo at lower RPM's. I'm curious to see if it will actually work for us.

I'm hoping it will allow us to better spool the turbo up without pushing the car through the lights. So when we launch it's under more boost.

As it stands, I can only get about 4-5 psi if I crush the brake pedal and yank on the parking brake. That is at about 2k.

I am still waiting on this also.. I may sound dumb and crazy but can NLS be developed for the auto. For example my car has high miles and I'm running a few mods. I let of the gas between shifts in my auto because I am scared to blow up my trans. It would be amazing if we can get the ignition to cut just for a second between shifts just to ease the load on the trans between shifts. Not to mention it would burp between shifts and that would just sound completely bad ass.

Just haven't had the time to explore it unfortunately. I'm not sure it would work to start with. We'd have to figure that out first. Maybe when we get closer to drag racing season I'll look in to it more.

No plans on a 2STEP/NLS for any N55 motor. Sorry!
