Default rb or vargas stage 2? - 01-12-2015, 04:12 PM

So which one is best. Let's say the ca r has the same exact mods. FBO + FMIC. Which one would dyno more. And which one would be better for 1/4 mile automatic transmission.

Also. How much hp/tq is the stock transmission good for. 2008 135i

525whp fairly reliable. past that your testing your luck. Basically the same turbos so just preference. id recommend spending the extra few dollars and getting the stage 2+ vargas turbos with a lot more potential unless your buying them used.

Nate dog. If your runNing a e85 mix. Why don't you use the e85 flash instead of the pump flash?

Basically this ^ and what NateDogg said. Your better off going 2 because of its potential. Either way can't go wrong. If you do go for the 2+ though, you might have to look into a Level 10 upgrade for the tranny as it won't be too happy with the stage 2s let alone the 2+

I personally have had great success with my RB's and would highly recommend working with Rob. If your looking for more than 500-530whp his Super RB's are looking very promising.

TrickCruiser, Your ride is bad ass man, Nice colors just a nice complete setup. So I see on your signature your OLD best 503whp and Best 1/4 mile wasi 11.14. was this accomplished with just the RB non Super RB turbos?

Sorry for the late response here man! For some reason I do not always get email notifications...

First, thank you very much for the compliments. I really do appreciate that.

For your questions, I think I have responded to most of your questions via PM but just so it is on here for anyone else that is interested.

My runs were on the standard RB turbos running E70 and meth. How the Super RB's perform is still TBD. I can say that with my last test set we were running VERY strong!!! More details on that setup are right around the corner!

HOws that automatic trans holding up though? That's the only reason I want RBs over the Vargas Stage 2+s that came out....

Time will tell...

I have installed the Level10 Valve Body upgrade but have not had the car out for testing yet.

We're you running meth before your rb's? I plan on getting the rb's but not till March. If you were running meth with your stock turbos. What were your meth settings?

My best pass with stock turbos on meth (80 add) was something like 11.9 @118. This was before there was a backend flash or e85 being used in the N54.

Thanks for keeping this clean and informative, I am in a similar predicament the only diff being 6mt. It's hard to find a thread free of clutter. I am still interested to hear how people are enjoying both setups and drive ability. Let's continue to keep the lid on the can of worms.

If you know anything about customer service history of both companies I think the decision is very obvious between vtt and RB. If you don't mind waiting a few more months PURE will have a sweet stage 2 n54 option as well

Don't know much about the customer service due to how "cluttered" threads have become so its hard to find true data. Might check Angie's list, haha.

Rob at RB has been a pleasure to work with. His customer service combined with the addition of their VSR balancer, wheel options, and thrust upgrade it is hard to beat.

Easy answer. pick the one that actually holds world record timeslips.

If your only claim to fame is dyno, you have nothing. Need a slip to back it up

RB all the way. I'd rather not deal with the VTT delay-ridden production process, unproven products OR Tony in general.
