Default Strange jB4 behavior, New Codes, AF63 and some fuel pump ones plus same old code 2DED - 04-23-2019, 10:14 PM

I posted some info about this in a different thread which I'll link but this is different with a new code. Been getting 2DED anytime car sits for awhile. Add to that today

I was driving, and had been for 30 min, stop and go at first, then highway for 15min. As I slowed into 3rd and began braking around 40mph I noticed the 'gauge sweep'. The comment I made in the thread below was I had seen this a couple times just after start up. Not when I started the car but 30sec to 1 min later. Today the gauge sweep was at start up, blinkers flashed at oil temp. 20 minutes later random gauge sweep.

Might not think much of this if I wasn't getting high batt drain warnings everyday...

The code list is attached and shows the high current and high voltage fuel codes. It's not a log but lists the specific codes and I pasted a freeze frame for the 2DED code.

Ideas appreciated; especially from jB4 designers/builders.

If you have an upgraded fuel pump- that can draw more current than oem- hence your EKP code- most ignore

No upgraded fuel pump. Just the most recent version of OEM installed by BMW in 2016.

No CELs but triangle dash warning for fuel pump at the end of 3rd pulls and at 3-4k WOT in 4 5 or 6.

Could be a failing EKP- any idea if you have EKP2 or 3?

Dumb question of the day, What's an EKP? How do I know which I have?

Would this relate to 2DED? I'm thinking high volt at FP could be related to 'short' causing 2DED, but...

Do a bit of research, but connecting the dots- more current draw could be causing that code yes.

A simple search of EKP here will net you the what is it answer & help you learn a bit more too

Seems like most update this when modding fuel pump. I have not. Wouldn't cause more draw when off right? It's when off for extended periods 2DED shows up. E.g. overnight.
