Looking forward to getting mine installed.
Finished the install today and went for a drive. Diving normally the car is as quiet as it was before and no vibration at higher speed so I was happy about that. The rear feels more heavy/planted in the back end going over uneven roads which surprised me....less "tail wagging". Well yes there is definetely more traction. I drove the whole time with DTC off and on a couple of the "greasy" roads where it would normally spin all through second did DSC intervene. I need to up my boost limit in second from 12psi and try again on some good roads. I tried a few mild first gear launches and seemed way better but still some controlled spinning. I did notice the small clunk from the diff when sitting still with brakes on and going from reverse to drive. From drive to neutral and back to drive there is no noise.....need to go and make sure the axle bolts are still tight ...cheers.

Same here. Just a bit of clunk from stand still to the first gear. Other than that this is one of the best mod i d ever done with a great price. No tale waggle on wot and hard first gear turn with a great control under slipping....u simly will grin after grin from the fact that this car has unlimited potential. With my new inline along with this lsd, i am back again. Kw is next.

Is the "break in period" (say 400km) just a consideration when to replace the oil or is it necessary to take it easy on the diff during this period?

Thanks

It's not 100% necessary, but is recommended

Hey MFactory!

I have a 2010 Z4 35i w/ DCT and am very interested in your LSD. Any idea whether you plan to offer one for this car, and if so, when it will be available?

Thanks!

I've planned to install the rear M3 E93 anti roll bar with the LSD, in the meantime.
Original E88 rear sway bar: 12mm
M3 E93 one: 23.6mm

What is the best oil to replace with the LSD? Motul 300 gear?

Welded/DCT solutions are still under development.

Best oil to use is what you have had previous experience with, or what is recommended in your oem service manual. NO special fluid is required.

Excellent. Glad to hear it. Do you have an approximate timetable? Also, do you expect the price of the DCT units to be roughly the same as the MT/AT ones?

I'd prefer your LSD to the others on the market (unless it will take a long time to come on the market and cost roughly the same as the ones that already are).

MFactory,
What should be the torque on the bolts of the diff?

Pricing should be similar, yes. Is still a couple months out though, as we have quite a big backlog on the machines.

Bolts should be torqued to what is recommended in the oem service manual (I believe is around 110lb, but I could be wrong. I'm not in the office at the moment to check)

Do you offer a selective snap ring shim kit for these? Or know where to get one? I found one here but it seems a little steep.

The shims are very hard to find and/or are very expensive.

When we do our builds, we custom make our own shims (like most of the other BMW Diff Specialists)

Just did the diff oil change after about 500km break in. Was surprised to see the amount of shinny metal suspended in the fluid but no real particals that were not suspended. I can def see the importance of this first flush. I had drilled and tapped a 1/8" npt plug in the bottom of diff when I had everything apart and this really makes changing the oil easy and helps to get all the crap out of there. Will likely put in a 1/8" magnetic plug ala Harley primary case. Really happy with this mod btw...thanks Mfactory for a great deal !

My LSD is being fitted today.
Do I have to flush the LSD oil in 400-500 kms ?

don't bother. MFactory even said that their lsd is lifetime oil, basically you don't even need to break in nor flush fluid, unless you are heavily beating on it.

Although not 100% necessary with the Helical LSD, we do recommend changing the fluid after around 500 miles for the best performance

do someone know the oil quantity for a small diff ?
I'm pretty surprised my garage put only 1 liter of 75w90 OEM oil...
