If you're referring to the stock clutch, mine lasted about 3 years. Granted I chose to replace it after getting slight signs of slippage because of the increased hp but the stock held well with about 22-30 laps on the 'Ring and Hockenheim and at times normal 90-100 mph cruising on the autobahn over that period.

Currently have a ACT Stage 1 clutch rated to 450 HP.

Autobahn.......its what's for dinner!!!

Mine lasted 2 years, but that equated to 40K miles. The dealer said it is not a warranty item but is covered under the maintenance plan as long as the mechanic says it is normal wear and tear and not abuse. I wasn't thrilled about the dealer deciding if the item is covered since they get a higher labor rate if it is not covered. Luckily(?) the mechanic called it normal wear and tear and BMW paid $2750 for a new clutch.

The price is not a typo.

40K miles seems pretty weak for a high hp clutch. I was lucky it quit before 50K. Those with a manual transmission and no clutch replacement in the first 50K might want to consider buying a third party warranty that covers the clutch. Even if the warranty costs $3K it would surely pay for itself in the medium run.

Clutch life is 100% situational.
Depends on:
-Driving habits
-driving abilities
-Clutch type
-Mods done
-Probably more stuff

You could get 100k miles out of your clutch but I will get 9k out of mine. It all depends on key factors.

I have 103k on my car now. Its been Burger Tuned with E85 since 65k. So thats about 40k miles on the stock clutch and it is just now starting to slip on me. I think for a stock item that was designed to hold 275 ftlbs at the wheels that fact that it made it this long holding 450+ ftlbs at the wheels is amazing. I think I will end up going Single Mass Steel with a Spec 3+ or Dual Mass with a Spec 3+ ... I haven't decided. I'd like to ride in a SMFW car first before pulling the trigger.

LOL, if someone only gets 9k out of a clutch, they must be confusing the clutch pedal with the foot rest
