Default oil temp sensor - 12-21-2018, 05:59 PM

I have a 2007 335i with full bolt ons and pure stage 2 turbos. About once in every 20ish times i use the car the oil temp does not work. The oil temp will read 50-150f and no matter ow much you drive it it will do back down to 50f. This means my jb4 tune does not work because the tune does not turn on till the oil temp is 160 degrees.

I assume the oil temp sensor is messed up. Where is it and how much does it cost? and what is the part number?

The oil temp. sensor is located left of the oil filter housing. It's connected to an electrical plug. Just unsnap it and unscrew it.

Is that oil temp or water temp?

Oh, good catch. That's my bad. That's definitely a water coolant sensor. Here's a link to the oil temp. Sensor:

On ecs: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-mtc-part...621433076~mtc/

it states: "Temperature Sensor Monitors coolant / oil temperature".

On pelican parts: BMW E90 Engine Temperature Sensor Replacement | E91, E92, E93 | Pelican Parts DIY Maintenance Article

it states: "BMW Engine Temperature Sensor Replacing"

In conclusion: I dunno which sensor it is that reads oil temp. Hell, I just read somewhere that the oil level sensor reads the oil temp. I give up. Good luck!

Pretty sure the level sensor also reads the temp.

Here is a pic of my oil temp stuck at 93 degrees after my car had already warmed up and been driving for a while. It’s just and not moving at 93 degrees. I just need to know what sensor I need to buy to fix this? Is the oil temp taken from the same sensor as the oil level sensor? The issue is the oil level sensor is brand new as I just changed it a few thousand miles ago.

This is very fursating because when my oil temp does not work my jb4 does not turn on and I’m stuck at stock boost levels

Looks to be the oil level sensor. Order it online or stop by your local car parts store and see if they have any in stock. You're going to have to change your oil too. Just noticed you mentioned you changed your oil level sensor not too long ago. That is frustrating...
