Default Upcoming Wavetrac install, and bearings - 12-31-2013, 05:20 PM

I'm fixing to install a wavetrac and after several days of searching found that rock auto list some bearings for the 335. It appears that the bearings thy sell are roller and not ball like the factory. Has anyone tried these?

Bearing numbers below
Diff bearing LM503349A. Race LM503310
Pinion bearing HM 88542, HM 89449. Race HM89410, HM88510

From what I read BMW switched to the ball bearings to reduce operating temperature.

I kept my OEM bearings.
A diff swap should not require new bearings unless something bad happened.

What wieght oil did you use? I was thinking of 75/140 due to the type of driving I do.

I'll be using that as well per the recommendation on Wavetrac's site.

I have a few extra quarts of it and will do $15 a quart plus actual shipping if anybody is interested.

Sorry for bumping a old thread.

Did you ever get bearings? Do these bearing numbers match up with the welded manual transmission?

Didn't need the bearins so I never ordered them. I'm going to pull mine back apart in a month or so to check them again.

Ok. We are having trouble pulling the center part of the bearing from the pinion. I need it off as I am changing ring gear and pinion for a 3.46 gearing.

Doing a full build on my motor and trans so might as well check the diff since the car is gutted.

They work well! But I find myself wanting more power. I can never have enough power, I had a GT500 that had 600 at the wheels and I wanted more.
