Pretty sure map 5 is a little much with just 5 gallons of e85.
Send logs to me rather.
The RS weak point is the water to air cooling system. IAT sky rockets. If timing is not looking good you can up the E85 content a gallon at a time to full tank ratio.

Have been enjoying my JB4 on my SQ5. Curious, I recently added a catted DP and now am getting the following code:

5C36

I have always gotten 8176, but it only seems to appear on the JB4 app and not my OBDeleven. Anything I should be aware of with the 5C36?

Hoping someone can help!
Tried to install the JB4 on my B9 SQ5 last night. Believe I got all of the sensors hooked up correctly. George confirmed the locations were correct. Did not get the mobile app to connect but went for a quick drive anyway as I believe the JB4 automatically sets Map 1. After getting above 2500-3500 RPM the car threw a driveline malfunction code- contact service. I limped it home and disconnected the JB4 sensors and reconnected the factory settings. Drove car- was fine. Sent George a few emails with pictures- which he did respond to that night. Suggested I leave off the Fuel Sensor and the BCM. Even then I still cannot connect to app and I do not want to go drive again without being able to see the app and make changes to map.
The App seems to “connect” to the JB4, but failed during the handshake(after 20 seconds or so) saying there is a “hardware connection issue”. I have taken the mobile connect piece off the of the JB4, reconnected, restarted phone, unplugged everything from JB4 and reconnected, reset Bluetooth settings- NOTHING will get through JB4 to connect to the app.
At this point I am EXTREMELY frustrated. I don’t know if this thing works at all, and I have no ability to change any settings even if it did. All I know at this point is however it was connected the first go around did not go well and put the car in limp mode- which I was worried about from the beginning.

B9 SQ5- 1,200 miles
iPhone 11Max on latest iOS
OBD temporarily run around door - connected to JB4 properly
Ground connected under nut on driver side fender

What haven’t I tried? What do I do next? I am about ready to pack it up and send it back. Could I have gotten a dud?

Just installed the JB4 on my '19 RS5 and it's working great. Noticeable difference on Map 3. My car is stock and always has 93 octane but I don't want to push harder without a FMIC.

No CELs or issues but checked codes anyway today and I got "85E3 No Description Found". Any idea what it is or what to do about it? Google didn't help. I cleared it but it came back after next start up.

Thanks!

It is a EVAP code. We see them now and then and dont think its tune related. Maybe double check to see if your gas cap is on properly.

George just helped me out with advice on maps at different fuel levels. I am having to mix VP Fuels MS109 as I only have 90 AKI octane available, and no ethanol. I'm set on that.

I am curious though, what process you all follow on changing fuels? I couldn't find any detailed guidelines/suggestions. Not sure if the fuel sensor (for WMI) allows you to leave a little fuel in the tank when switching, and then just drive the extra out of the lines? Will the JB4 safely accommodate that if you are in an aggressive map?

I had previously considered an APR map and I know that they have a really intense Fuel Guide. I don't really want to drain my tank, but I will if I have to. I'm doing some testing right now on 93 with an ABT tune. And I want to try 96, and then run 100 or 103 in a race on Sunday and Monday

I fill up and drive some kilometers with lower map, then I switch to higher map. APR Guide is a little overcarefull. Engines have lambda regulation, knocking regulation, if you dont drive with WOT from a fuel station it would be ok.

JB4 switch to a valet map / Map0 if there is something suspicious. I drive with Pure700 and set my bost a little to high to BIAS etc, so I was returned always to Map 0 immediatelly by shifting at higher Rpms before I found the right configuration.

Hey everyone,

I'm running into some issues updating the firmware. The app tries to update the JB4 over and over until it finally quits do to too many failed attempts.

I've attached screenshots of the firmware version and the pop up that keeps...popping up.

I also can't use the firmware it was shipped with because the update removed it early in the process. Phone's wifi was off and placed inches from the JB4.

Anyone know how to get this running?

Thanks

Try increasing the timeout value to 30 and see what it does.

I've tried with both 25 and 30 second limits. It still fails multiple times until finally quitting on me.

Okay, this time I let the phone connect to the car then purposefully disconnected them from each other.

I tried again and now it's failing while in the 100s (writing block screen). Earlier it would go through the entire 328 blocks before failing.

I also verified that while it's loading nothin else is connected to the phone.

It failed five attempts again.

Drop me a email george@burgertuning.com. We will need to arrange to change the master chip on the circuit board which is a easy fix.

I actually emailed you earlier today before posting here.

Email address matches my user name here. When you get a chance to read it just let me know what I need to do.

Thanks.

I sent you another email, George.

For future reference, are the JB4s shipped with the most recent firmware?

Her George, so far everything is running great with map 5 in my RS5.
Every so often the unit sets itself back to map 0. No codes or anything just back to stock. Then I click it to 5 and it’s good for a week or so. Never happened in my S4, I did update to latest firmware when I installed in the RS.

Let me know if you can help.

Hi, check to see what the last safety value is. This will indicate the reason. Relatively easy to sort out thereafter.

You hitting the 25 and its map switching. Set to 27 and it should sort it.
