Oh yes, that is so true! WG control does make much better response all around based on how we map it with the pedal

Another awesome feature. My vote goes to ECO mode on Map0. Eco is crappy as it is lol. I would like to have sport and sport+ user definable.

Thanks for all the work.

Early version of V8 firmware is posted to the database forum (link in first post), could use a log or two to ensure gear is working for all models. ECO is tied to VALET for now too. Could also use an ECO boost/VALET map log or two on an RS to see how they react.

Default Gas Mileage Map? - 02-15-2020, 07:03 AM

Just purchased JB4 w/ bluetooth for my 2018 Q50 3.0t. Read as much as I could on this site, but don't see this covered anywhere. Is there map settings that would enhance gas mileage for day-to-day driving? Racechip advertises significant increases in mileage due to torque increase and ability to hold higher gears. Obviously the JB4 is superior to Racechip in its flexibility and ability to configure the maps in multiple ways. Anything Racechip can do the JB4 can do (better). Is the increased mileage just total BS? What map configurations would you recommend for best gas mileage in day to day driving? With the ease of bluetooth I could see flipping back and forth quite often between mileage and performance maps.

Theres a reason you dont see gas mileage discussions... If gas mileage is a concern, you don't need a JB4 or race chip. But, to answer your question, your best bet would be to either log your own results and see if gas mileage is impacted by Map, or turn the JB4 to Map0 (off) when you're trying to save gas. Your car will be running in stock form on Map0

RaceChip is just full of it, their product produces no gas mileage increase. See the FAQ. BTW their logic you'd get better mileage with any tuning you decided to run because they all make more torque lol.

Our low boost VALET map is the closest thing you'll see to increased gas mileage on the vehicle.

Thanks for clarifying. They arenít shy about claiming the mileage increase! I figure whatever they do you can easily replicate with JB4. Since the mileage increase is BS, I will just be happy with the ipower and flexiblity of JB4! Thanks!

Exactly. No idea how they haven't been sued over those false claims yet.

Yes... just did it now, same method I use when I upload fw via email. On iOS, navigate to the N54 repository, download it. iOS saves it in iCloud Drive. So using the ďFilesĒ app, navigate to iCloud Drive>Downloads and you should see the beta firmware. Using ďSelectĒ, select the fw, copy it to ďOn my iPhone>JB4 Mobile>Firmware folder. Now you can open the JB4 app, go to firmware update>click on the big green arrow, and your beta firmware should be listed there.

Side note, navigating to the n54 repository is a bit challenging since the site does not scale properly using mobile safari... but itís still usable.

Let me just familiarize myself with the new fw and Iíll grab some logs. Just reinstalled my JB4 today, been out of the loop in a while. Car is at 2500 miles now so it should be ready. Wmi reinstall maybe next week.

I have tried to download the beta into my s9 multiple times and it does not list the version 8 file in the list of jb4 firmware hex files after I press the green arrow. It lists 7.2, 7.1, and 7. I found the beta file from the link in the 1st post. I saw the version 8.1 and the 8.2 which I believe is not for us yet. I pressed down load on the 8.1v and the file appeared to be correct next to the green arrow. I push the arrow and it takes me to a list of version files I listed above. No version 8 to choose from. What am I doing wrong? I tried resetting the app and trying multiple times.

There is an android update coming soon that will only let you pull files off the database system. Donnie tells me until then you should be able to grab the files by surfing to the database website link we have in the first post. But I have not tried it myself as I'm busy testing out the new app version.

I finally got it figured out. I loaded it up and test drove around my neighborhood with the gear indicator as one of my gauges. I saw it changing around correctly. I don't have time to go out and log now but I will sometime soon and post them here for review.

Verified switching to ECO switches to Map8 on 2020 q50 RS. Very impressive, JB4 feels luxurious lol. I canít wait until map switching via Mode switch is fully integrated. Iíll try and grab a log tonight.

I found trans temp logging.. Just need to figure out how to convert it to a usable number now. Plugged the byte output in to cyl5 timing for the moment in 8_T4 and plugged "converter slippage RPM" in to cyl4 timing for the moment to determine if it's useful for anything.

We will need more than 6 gauges on the JB4 interface soon.

Yes that is on the to-do list, quite a few app change are coming soon. First to android and then to iOS after as Apple takes so long to approve changes.
