Noob question. Friend wants to sell me his B48 JB4. Can this be reflashed with N20 firmware to be used in my F30 328i? Any other difference between the two JB4 models? Any advice appreciated.

Hi guys, yesterday I updated the Jb4 firmware to version N20_OBDII_EWG_6.hex (13/6//5) and now the car is not doing so well and with the same performance as the penultimate fw on map 6. I wonder if anyone can make it available the firmware version N20_OBDII_EWG_5.hex (13/5//5), either by private message or e-mail.

I appreciate any help.

Hi when I read code, it says “c@tless d0wnpipe detected”. No CEL and is located in USA

Is this normal? I have a high flow down pipe from ER.

For 5 series try setting options/FUD bit1 on in the JB4 mobile app.

Do you mean the X1 Z4 N20B20A firmware? Seems that it's gone.

Default Firmware version 13/7//5 - F30 N20 EWG - 05-28-2020, 03:10 PM

I just updated my JB4 firmware to N20_OBDII_EWG_7.hex - alternatively, firmware version 13/7//5. Prior to this updated I did not have any issue with engine malfunction/limp mode and other various codes within the JB4 app and my check engine light was deleted. After the update, my check engine light is on and I am getting the following codes: 123412 electric waste gate, stop learning: stop position (waste gate closed) not found; 123401 Wastegate Learning Stop During c@t Heading Cycle; 120408 Reduced Power mode; and 180001 c@t ******** detected. I have tried to redo the update and the problem persisted. Please let me know what I can provide to help resolve this issue. Any advice is appreciated!

I also tried to update my 2013 320i to N20_OBDII_EWG_7.hex and had similar problem. Lots of errors:
120408 reduced power mode
121001 TMAP sensor, short circuit to B+
104401 MAP sensor, intake pipe, electrical: short circuit to B+
119404 Rail pressure sensor, signal stuck
CD8F01 Intelligent Battery Sensor, LIN communication: Timeout
11A002 Fuel pressure below target
119001 Rail sensor short circuit

Couldn't start up engine. I came back to 6.hex and everything was ok as before. I have upgraded Wagner intercooler and intake with cone filter and exhaust modified. OEM down pipe.

Eventually, my concerns were validated only by Terry. Terry said it appears there is a problem with the electronic wastegate logic. Hopefully, a fix will come soon. It is good that you were able to go back to a previous firmware version.

I also had above 2 issue after updating to EWG_7, but luckily I was able to delete these 2 error code successfully.

Do you install the Go Fast Bits Diverter Valve (T9357 DV+) ? Wondering whether or not this thing impact how the electronic wastegate logic works.

No I have not - I was considering it as I have already replaced my exhaust manifold and new oem wastegate in the past. I am wondering anyone's experience with a new diverter valve.

Thanks for the reply. DV+ is quite popular for N20 engine, it's worthy of investment which helps you hold the extra boost JB4 feed DME.

Updated the N20 EWG firmware with new BETA for better EWG control. Could use a few logs to evaluate it!

Hello, recently installed a JB4 with flex, ewg and OBD cables in a Z4 - N20 engine. What firmware should I use? I downloaded HEX_7 (in n20 engine session) and I'm using it on map 2, but the map selector doesn't work. Thanks.

If using OBDII then use the normal firmware but won't have in dash controls. You'd need ECU posi-tap attached CANbus and Z4 specific firmware for the in dash controls.

Hi Terry,

Is that the ewg6_T4 file (or 13/6//5)? I am currently on this so if want to know what the better ewg control would mean? Thanks
