Default Need Suggestion on N63 Engine - 03-31-2021, 09:48 PM

Hi All,

I have a beautiful 2012 X5 50i that I love to death! Funnest car I'v ever had. As its getting up there in mileage (at 135k right now) I'm beginning to worry more and more about the major work that it will need. Specifically the valve stem seals that tend to run in the $3k range.

My question are:
192.168.0.1 routerlogin 192.168.l.l

1 Are there any signs that will tell you that the failure is coming soon?

Right now there do not seem to be nay signs. No smoke, runs great.

2 Is there anyway for me to check what work was done when they did the CCP?

3. What other things are expected? I can handle a decent amount of work myself. I fixed my turbo wastegates so I'm comfortable with working on it.

4. Anyone in AZ have gotten their Valve stem seals replaced for a decent price?

Thanks in advanced.

Let the car idle for 20 minutes, if you dont see smoke billowing out of the exhaust, you must be one lucky person. Also, I am sure at this point you are aware or not aware if any oil is being consumed between changes.

Of course, review CAR fax and see what dealers the car went to. Only a dealer is authorized to perform CCP.

I had no issues with mine, but did develop a water leak, which is common due to the crappy plastic Y excrement that BMW includes with their hot V design. This was fixed with newer renditions of the car. I also had another coolant leak else where due to a pipe near the firewall, but was probably induced by the shop that fixed my coolant leakage in the hot V described previously.

I was quoted 2,500 in California, and honestly the valve job is what made me get rid of the car. The new X5's are amazing also.
